yes, pulled ,i think, fuse 36/37?
it would seem that by disconnecting the battery to make the RNS work, i pulled the fuse for RNS but there is probably a separate fuse for the TV/CD that i did not know existed.
cheers raj

Interesting, thanks for the clarification.
There has to be power for the CD changer too, never needed to look at that though.

According to my manual relevant fuses are:
Drivers footwell: carrier 3 (yellow) # 2, carrier 4 (blue) #5 and #6
Boot: 3A and possibly 4A (if present)

As noted earlier, I have pulled a fuse in the boot in the past.

thanks for posting up the fuses/location.
i am sure i will need to pull then some time again for a reset.
what i did notice for the preceding week was that the TV module fan was working when ever i opened the boot.
now i also have a range rover in which the cd/TV unit buzzes to life when the doors are opened, so thought nothing of it when i heard it in the Audi.
so this fan has been continuously on for the past 7 days. only stopping after i had reset it.
thanks again
raj

Pretty sure there is only 1 one power source for all the factory ICE in the car, fed from the boot right hand side.

If the RNS-D is working, then most likely your TV tuner has failed for some reason. Rare, but possible.

The presence of the tuner on Canbus will cause the RNS-D to allow you to select it, so unless the cable for the tuner running from the front of the car to the back has got damaged, then providing there is power to the tuner (which its hard to believe there isn't) then faulty tuner seems most likely.

The RNS-D tuners are all analogue, and should be relatively cheap to buy now as there is little demand. Swapping it out may be your next best option if you need it to work.

i have one if its any use to you. not that it should be any use, as the analogue signal has been turned off now anyway.

thanks for continuing the thread.
the disconnection of the battery was crude but effective.
all seems well currently.
now i know the location of the fuses. i will take a less brutal pathway to ‘reset’ the system..
cheers raj

Think I may have too, as I rarely bin anything that might have a future use (A/V input in this case).
