I have only just bought my A8 but have a good mate with Audi experience.

One experience was having an exchange ECU in the engine rebuilt by someone in Derby. He took unit to lads house and saw him use a stereo microscope to repair the PCB!

It worked well for Dave, saved him £100s and maybe contributed to his decision to by a V6 Golf Synchro after he sold the Quatro...
