Everything worked fine last time i used it a couple of weeks ago.

What connections are there from the receiver? Is there a connection within the boot lid which might have worked loose or does the cable run continuously to the Nav unit?

There is a connection in the boot lid, but tbh it doesnt fail. There is then another connection behind the boot trim on the left hand side where the aerial would terminate for a boot mounted (non nav plus) unit, but in your case is the full jobby, so picks up an extension that runs it through to the front of the car down the audio loom, but again failure is rare.

Start with an aerial directly into the Nav plus at the front of the car, and work back from there. Its way easier that fishing around aimlessly in the boot for the connector, which will almost certainly be safe and snug...

Are the receivers susceptible to water ingress? Just thought, i took the car through one of the hand car wash places last week where they jet-washed the car all over - could it have forced water into the receiver?

Strikes me as a bit of a longshot... for the sake of 10/15 quid you can get another GPS aerial to test with and seriously narrow down the problems...

Ta for that Ian +++

It's annoying because I'm sure it worked for a while when I first bought the car. I will have a bit more of a play with the aerial position and then give up. I'm currently trying for some sort of Iphone integration, which has built in GPS anyway. But what with the analogue TV signal being turned off and then this, that Nav+ is becoming a very large pretty CD player!

I just put Tom Tom on my I phone, won't ever need to use it as have Sat Nav in my car but its really really good, just like a proper tom tom unit. Very impressed.

Took your advice and ordered a replacement antenna off ebay this morning, along with a set of pins for removing the nav unit.

Then i got bored...so i stripped the boot lid lining off and removed the GPS antenna, stripped this down and found water on the circuit board which was soon resolved with paper towel and hairdryer.
Refitted everything and now receiving 7 satellites; a quick drive around town seems to indicate that everything is ok, the countdown to junctions certainly seems accurate enough anyway.

Well, funnily enough...

Mine seems to have sprung to life too. Using the aftermarket aerial! Still only shows a couple of satellites on the settings however have tried it a few times and it's correctly identified my position. I did change the time setting on it, not sure if that helped.

Will probably try taking the boot aerial apart at some point in the next few days to see if I can make it work in an OEM fashion :) Expect the satellite reception will be better with an external aerial.
