I made something similar, but used right angle header pins, to connect the gateway to a logic analyser.

Lol had this same conversation yesterday.

What he want is a socket receptacle from a 26 pin gateway so he can make a loom adaptor to go from a d3 that has a 26 pin gateway to a newer 20 pin gateway.

But I suspect there is no matching receptacle for cable harness wiring

I tried to re purpose a can gateway but it's fiddly. Once it's removed off the gateway PCB it falls apart.

Correct. You have to make a something custom. Once my adapter is connected it's really secure, hence the loop of electrical tape to pull it out.

Could the pcb not be hacked to stay with the socket or a new one made?

Yes. The housing that the plug inserts into is separate to the pins, so the section of PCB that holds both in place must be retained. Then you're into soldering new wires, time, getting a bit bulky....

What I posted earlier works and is only terminal crimping. Downside is that it could be inserted 180° out, but we're all smart folk on here not to do that +++

Thanks for the advice all.
I ended up stripping an old gateway I had and it works a treat.
