It is a non-stock exhaust but I am not sure which. The hanging mechanism is doing its job at the rear but I don't like the look of the way its mounted like that. For those that like the V8 burble droning on inside the car (or outside for that matter) then this exhaust sounds great without its silencer/muffler, but I prefer a more muted tone. This is my first A8 with double glazing acoustic glass and I'm not getting the benefit. So the exhaust is something that might be changed. Here are a few shots of it: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525978835 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525978835 Quote:
My Samsung phone oversaturates colours like all Samsung phones so you'll probably not get the true impression of the cars from the following shots. But you will notice what I mean when you see them both together (sorry that I didn't have time to wash Big Red before these photos were taken so she looks a bit dusty with the pollen in the air around here): http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979229 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1525979240 And finally, whilst driving to the park to take these shots, I saw my first "Spotted on Tarmac" S8 PF. It was Ainars S8 being driven by, I assume, Lady Ainars. The car looked very nice too. |
Those are two damn good looking 8s! :love:
That's definitely not a Milltek exhaust. No wonder you don't like it! I would expect that to sound much the same as the one we took off Big Red, ie pretty annoying. It'd probably work quite well with a pair of rotary mufflers though :ROFL: I have a couple of original S8 exhausts so I'm sure we can sort something a bit quieter +++ |
Looks good! Just keep the pair, go on!
Have you booked it into MJs workshop yet? |

And yes, I'm sure that a trip down to Devon would help resolve an issue or two as per David's8 suggestion +++ :D |
I'm not surprised that's bloody loud without much in the way of silencer boxes in evidence lol
The standard tailpipes look a little weedy to me and the Milltek had the right balance of a little more purposeful sound than stock, without droning excessively. That looks to be only silenced by the cats, unless I'm not seeing the mid box? Quite like the tailpipe design but that needs a couple of decent sized silencers inserting to make it bearable I suspect. |

Stunning pictures by the way. |
A lovely pair of 8s there. +++

Well done Dean.
Great news that you got the S8. Been thinking about it since our chat at Beaulieu. Great photos of the two cars together. keep Big Red for everyday use and use the S8 for special occasions, thus keeping the mileage down and the value up. I am sure you will love the S8 performance and presence. Happy days David:D+++:cool: |
Congratulations Dean
You have been really lucky to find another red. A very nice upgrade +++ Do the steering wheels have slightly different shapes? In addition to the colours? |
Stunning pictures, and congratulations!
That's a sight you don't see too often and they are a real pair of head turners! I'd be sooo tempted to keep both too if it was me! :D |
