Not sure if I mentioned it but when I came to add one of my kids to the insurance on a temporary basis there was no charge at all!
That applied to the Volvo initially, so I asked about the S8 and it was the same.

For my last two renewals on the D3, I have let them auto renew as both times I was not able to get a cheaper quote. I pay less than £200 to insure my D3 with business use included, so there seems little point trying to get anymore off.

I find it rather strange that there is such a discrepancy in quotes.
I entered exactly the same details as my daughter-out-law and we received quotes that were over £1K apart.
Then I find that folk with vehicles that are similiar to mine but more powerful are receiving quotes quite a bit less than mine.
I wonder if they have tombola balls that they throw up and then catch as many as they can. The numbers on the caught balls are added up and there is your quote.
