Thanks gents, some interesting info there. These cars are still good with their 10 year old technology although having a new A6 as a loan car certainly makes it look a little outdated, but not much. The annoying thing at the moment is that the maps are no longer supported for 2G.

I've yet to find a better solution than Waze on my phone (which is live-traffic updated and based on Google maps. And Free). I did like the magic map on the RS5 Ian is punting, but I can do without for the moment.

3G+ gives proper 7 digit postcode navigation, wifi hotspot, google maps, google search, bluetooth audio streaming etc.

Good point IT. Another option is to mirror link to the screen and use my phone for navigation. The sound being B&O is excellent so no upgrade needed there.

Are the latest cars still using 3G+?

My S5 and Q7 are both on the next gen from 3G+, but even that is now 4 years old - so the new C8 (A6) for example and D5 (A8) are on the next gen again i think !

I hate to say it, but its become way less about the cars, or brands, as they're all so generally very good - people are swayed far more now by the tech in the cabin.....

Brand loyalty is taking a beating I think. And all electric is going to shuffle things up again, and that's really just round the corner.

The Q7 I just bought I expect to get a good 4 years from but by the end of it, I'm expecting diesel to be well on the way to being dead in terms of the mainstream new car demand.

I've slipped off topic a little there...... +++

"The UK has pledged that half of all new car sales will be hybrid or electric by 2030 as part of its “Road to Zero” plan "

10 years at least there.

As discussed elsewhere, where is all the energy coming from to charge everyone's car? Post-Brexit, where is the money coming from? We are due more austerity, no chance of more spending on public infrastructure.

Not outside Ye Olde London Village, anyway.

United Nations Agenda 21 and UN Agenda 2030 plan that we will all be poor in 2030, The West will be collapsed by Kalergi Migration Plan (The great people replacement) and ruled by the elite who fly over us in helicopters and drive by in their PHEVs from their mansions to redout bunkers. The removal of fossil fuels is just part of the agenda. Global population and health has skyrocketed because of fossil energy and the intensive farming and food distribution this allows. This is to be reversed.
