Funnily enough there is an occasional foul smell of burning oil (from the crankcase breather, I think), but I didn't think it was that noticeable!

I wonder if we should just pick our northern mini-meet location mathematically? ...
  1. Join together each attendee's location on a map to form a polygon.
  2. Calculate the centroid of the polygon.
  3. Meet up at said centroid.

Granted, we could end up in an Asda car park in Crewe, so we might need to tweak the final result a little.

Rather technical planning there Mark.
I'll try and attend to anything arranged.

If I head over from Beverley....it would move the "point of balance" much further East on that geometric basis! Seriously though, I'd be happy to head over your "neck of the woods"...lived much of my life in Sale and environs, so I'd visit friends and family too....

aagain my apologies for not thinking about you.

No apology necessary, Ray!

Have wheels...can travel...and I DO...regularly!

Mike.

Where abouts are you based Roberto?

In the absence of any sooner or more suitable venues, I wonder if we should start making plans to meet up at the September event of the 'Festival of 1000 Classic Cars' at Cholmondeley Castle. Who's up for it?

http://www.classicshows.org/festival...eptember-2019/

Any cars older than 15 years can exhibit, for which the entry fee is reduced to £4.50. However, if we can arrange in advance to exhibit as a club, apparently we're allowed to exhibit some newer cars too:

Quote:

Clubs are welcome to book a club pitch to display together as a club.

We offer a heavily discounted admission ticket for car exhibitors who book in advance of the event. For a cost of just £4.50, the car exhibitor ticket allows entry for:

– one classic car (aged 2004 / pre-2004) or a car in one of the following themes: American / kit / custom / replica car
– up to two adults and two children (aged up to 14).

Any additional passengers will be charged at the full admission price.

To protect the integrity of the event, we aim to control the number of exhibiting vehicles which are newer that 2004. We appreciate that some clubs have members with newer vehicles so if you are a club and more than 25% of the club comprises of vehicles aged newer than 2004, whilst you are still able to exhibit under the discounted £4.50, we ask that you make your booking by phoning the office on 01484 667776 or emailing info@classicshows.org to avoid any unnecessary delays.

Passes are issued subject to exhibitors arriving at the event by 11.00am.

i live in chesterfield..ive got an idea thou

i was thinking some people might live 10 miles from a meet and some 100 miles.
maybe make up a few meets to be honest
so.
1.make a list of interested people for a meet
2.get everybody's location
3.plan a central location from that info
4.make a date, Sundays are usually good

i dont mind doing that

or

how far away are you from say York or Leeds or even Wigan !

This is a great place also to meet and very friendly..

Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial
Halifax Way, Elvington, York YO41 4AU

infact i had a daft idea a while ago called

:The Aluminum Audi Meet:

then we could invite the A2 owners club

That's kind of what I suggested earlier, although I was being a little facetious to be honest :) ...

Thinking about it further, I think that plan has a catch-22 though: The choice of venue location depends on who is interested in attending, BUT, interest will probably depend a lot on the location we choose.

Sounds like a good idea +++ York is only about 1 and a half hours away for me, so I'm up for it, depending on the date.

We've got a few summer months ahead of us now so I think we should try to arrange a couple of northern mini-meets at least. Cholmondeley Castle isn't until September so maybe we could do that one and fit in a meet at the Yorkshire Air Museum too.

I'm thinking the best way to start would be to gauge interest in this thread first ... Pick a date that's good for a few of us, then start a new thread for each meet to recruit more attendees.

You need to add in a couple of other factors too:
- Willingness/motivation to drive a distance to a meet
- Enjoyment to be had on the roads getting there
