Have you checked the kick-down switch under the accelerator? Distant memory that it is switched off by default, twist it to enable?

Yeah I've got it on, I checked with it off, just seems to go down sequencially, wonder if other people have had a similar experience. It was remapped prior me buying it but I'm sure it would benefit from some gear box mapping if its possible
