how do you accidently turn it off?

Foot behind the pedal when exiting car.

i guess I should have been more explicit :-). How do you turn it off?

I assume from that pressing teh floor switch really hard? for x seconds continuously?

Simply rotate the fat round block that stops the accelerator from hitting the floor.
I forget which way is which but a quick test drive will make this very obvious.
