The mini with the primer is going soon! And it will be replaced with a mini pick up! (which is why I need the tow hitch, so I can go "pick up the pick up!" Its like the one below, same colour etc but not as good condition! work in progress as always! I got a long list of mods for it. MG engine out of one of the other minis and in to the pick up, black roof, black bumpers, change the grille with one of the others I have, brakes, wheels, seats, dash, stereo etc... I have a long list for it and not much time! It needs to be ready for the London to Brighton Mini show in May. Hense why I need to get my butt in gear and get this tow bar fitted to the Audi, and go pick up the thing! http://mini-exchange.com/images/1980...p-for-sale.jpg John, Do you mind if I take a look at your tow bar when you pop round for that tea? |

(quote taken from thread linked below) http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=740 entwisi was that a fixed tow bar or removalble? I just phoned chesiretowbars and they have quoted £375 for a removalble with single electics. I was more than happy to pay £215, even £250 for inflation but not happy paying that much extra. Was it def cheiretowbars you used? Im really dispapointed now. |
The company i had the non removable swan neck from was Towbars direct and it is made by GDW. Why would you pay anymore than £100 knowing that i bought one for £95? Oh it did cost a tenner for postage tho.
I do have one for sale, on my car at the moment for £280:D |
Dezzy, The one you have for sale is it a non removalble one or removable? Plus, i need it fitted.... Thats why i was willing the pay the extra. for the fitting
|
I needed to get one fitted ASAP now but didnt really want to pay £375 if entwisi got his for £215!
entwisi Can I ask what make yours is? Perhaps thats why I have been quoted more, because its a different make? The guy didnt seem to sure which one to go for when he was quoted me. So If you can shed some light mate I would really appreciate it! As I said I need to get this done ASAP now. |
Still in need of help on this!

Not sure what to say to to help !!
We've only ever dealt with the genuine Audi towbars, which were close to £1000 new. They are absolutely brilliant, and I wouldnt ever use an aftermarket one on my 8 as it will almost certainly require some cutting somewhere on the bumper, where the Audi one doesnt, plus the Audi removeable one fits perfectly in the hole in the toolkit where it is designed to go. I cant speak for any of the aftermarket stuff, but it sounds like youre in a tight corner *needing* a towbar and *needing* it fitting, which looks like its going to cost you premium.... :( £375 for a removeable one of some description, fitted, including electrics doesnt sound too bad to me..... yes £215 was a bit of a bargain, although detachable ball to me sounds more like a regular towbar with a ball that bolts off, rather than the more expensive detachable swan neck style which is maybe what you've been quoted ? |
