Would like those leccy rear seats as well, but I suppose you've had to forego ISOFIX....shame.

So, while I'm speccing, Ian, can you fix me up with:

- 2002 A8L with S8 engine, transmission and suspension (mirrors, grille, badges to confuse people.)
- Milltek exhaust
- 20" FE rims
- full extended leather (comfort seats for me, not the sports...)
- glass roof
- rear seat entertainment
- RNS-E with bluetooth and digital telly
- MFSW (I know, standard on the Ls)
- oh, and preferably ebony black over the caramel that the US got but we don't.
- oh and about 30k miles with regular transmission services having been performed from birth.

I don't ask for much.

*anything* is possible, for a price... +++

Mine was a standard A8, now running S8 gear, and the front of mine is no different to the LWB. Glass roof was standard LWB D2 kit, and it shouldnt be that hard to find an ebony black one with alcantara pack. Comfort seats were standard too. You'll need to import one if you want the full electric rears like mine though, and yes, the caramel is gorgous, and I'll fit it for you, if you can find me some in RHD trim :D

Dont worry about the milege, mines done over 150K. Well, the chassis has anyway...

On the subject of ISOFIX. How can I install it in the PF A8 I have? I have seen the brackets on sale at A8 Parts which I will buy, will it just screw in or do I need to drill/weld them in!?

A whimsy bit of topic, but what the heck... +++

IMO it isnt worth it. The isofix wasn't even dreamt of PF, so the bolt holes will be completely absent. The chassis region you would have to drill is right above where the fuel tank sits, then, when all is said and done unless you've got it 100% spot on, you end up with the kids in a seat that is less safe than a regular seat belt.

As a woman at mothercare once pointed out to me:

"Isofix isnt safer than using a seatbelt, its just more convenient. If you're perfectly capable of following instructions and using the seatbelt to anchor the child seat properly, then there is no safety gain to be had...."

... and I do believe this to be absolutely true...

To put it in persective, retrofitting isofix to a PF car is a job I wouldnt even think of taking on board, not even with all my previous mad installs...

Sorry to ask something completely off topic, but what does PF stand for:o

Pre facelift, Thanks for the advice Ian. +++

So back to my original question...

... is the rear legroom on a SWB D3 markedly better than a SWB D2?

Or am I stuck with having to get a LWB D3 (W12....no real hardship...) to get enough legroom to prevent my children's legs being wedged up against the back of my seat...?

FYI, I'm 6'5".

Id go along to an Audi garage and have a check... I never had any problems, but my seat position could be very different.

Or go with different child seats, some do push their legs up so they have less room.
