It's nice car but diesels that does not meet Euro6 standard (pretty much all older than 2015 diesels) have been dropping in price or standing around for long time not selling unless they are very special. With the new Cean Air Zone in Birmingham since June, upcoming in Bath and ULEZ in London expanding in October there are a lot of older diesel cars on the market and prices are dropping. It is estimated there are around 550 000 cars registered in the ULEZ expansion area that will need to pay congestion charge and ULEZ charge from October. Nobody will be paying £27 per day to keep driving them. As we get closer to the date all of them will be going out of London and flooding the market and pushing prices down. It has already started but the impact is not too big yet, some people are still sticking to higher prices but many cars are not selling.

Some basic versions are getting really cheap, C6 saloon, 2.0TDI without quattro, you can sometimes pick up for £800 in decent nick.

That being said if it was nice manual quattro estate and around £3k I would be inerested. I could live with auto but it really needs to be estate for me. I want to replace my 2000 A6 but unless something nice and cheap comes up I will wait for the full impact of ULEZ expansion to push prices down.

For the reasons above, that is exactly why I got rid of my diesel C6 A6 after Christmas. It drove superbly but I was too worried about ULEZ and all that nonsense.

I picked it up got £800 as a run around after my S8 was damaged and then sold it on for a reasonable price :D

Save yourself the hassle and sell it to one of the car buying sites. You'll have to manage your price expectations a bit, but it's quick and easy.

I sold my M4 last month using www.wizzle.co.uk and got an asking price offer the same day, paid for and collected the day after.

Job done +++

Now you’re being silly

You are entitled to your opinion about the value of car but you cannot ignore ULEZ expansion.

Where do you think all the affected cars will go? Derbyshire is what? -100 miles, 2 hous from edge of London. It's silly to think it does not or will not affect car prices in your area.

WBAC will offer £3k for it, and the lack of history doesn’t impact on the value. As a private sale the lack of history and mileage will be off putting to most

If a private buyer can be found I’d say £3.5k is top end, but that’s just my opinion. Diesel sales down here are very slow, but the writing is on the wall for anything that isn’t euro 6 compliant for all sorts of areas

Does it have DPFs in place? If not that’ll be challenging for mot eventually and if they are there they’re probably close to end of life/needing removal to be cleaned.

And that's assuming 6+ months MOT, no wheel damage, no glass damage, no dents, chips or scratches at all.

I don't think £4k is far off the mark for a private sale, depending on actual condition in the flesh, maybe £3.7-3.8k.

But that will also mean you need to actually put your hand in your pocket and pay to advertise it and then deal with a horde of idiots asking you 'how much for cash mate?'

Is it worth it for those few extra hundred pounds?
