New gateway tried
Didn't work. Tried various combos and such, but no joy. Initially it was worse with the screen popping up blank. Got it back to the pop up for 5 secs with the traffic info screen. Tried VCDS / ODB11 in various combos. No joy. Checked ALL the fuses (multimeter), even the BIG ones in the boot. Played with the optical bypass loop on what i could easily get to. No difference. Made a full bypass connector using some spare MOST bits, connecting the Gateway to the Head Unit. No difference. Ordered up a new £50 head unit from ebay. May pop mine out and read the chip if i encounter Component protection - The reader is like £6 anyway! https://www.dognmonkey.com/audi/how-...ection-cp.html My only other slight thing, is the battery and coding??? I know it seems a totally random thing but i DID change the battery a few weeks back, may be co-incidental and it was something with the water from the sunroof (though apart from the MMI buttons, which it should operate without, and the gateway autocode (which obviously saw things were not working), it's the only other thing! |
"New" head unit turned up today.
Plugged in and it shows the Suspension Set-up for about 15 seconds and then drops down again. So tried gateway, tried head unit, tried various MOST bus test and at best up for a few seconds and then turns off. Curiously the optical test shows electrical and optical ALL OK - however i can't reach anything on the bus apart from the Gateway unit via VCDS/ODB11 - Everything is unreachable. I'm getting a bit stumped |
Turns out it *WAS* the buttons!!!!
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=16367 I just updated there.....But if you disconnect the mmi buttons, the whole system goes down, rather than it working and you just can't use the buttons! Oh and the start/stop & Parking break are totally separate! Pondering opening the Control Head to see if I can rip my firmware - I may swap the newer gateway on too. Things i do for fun!!! |
