Ska, I'm really sorry to hear about your '8, have you thought about investing in a Clifford alarm? A friend of mine has one on his car and even if I brush past his car it will vibrate his key fob thingi when hes indoors and the cars outside, to alert him someone is touching it, it also sounds an audible alarm to the scum near it.

Sorry about the car fella,
It really makes me sad that there is no respect for other peoples property especially with the time and effort you have put in keeping it immaculate. I really hope you catch the tw*t and help him see the error of his ways. |
Sorry to hear the news Ska, it makes my blood boil, I had the same happen many years ago to another beloved car and I felt like watching it every night out of the window after I'd put it right. If anyone tells me these meatheads are true petrolheads then they get a mouthful. Justice should be whatever they treasure being treated the same way

 can really say anymore than what has been said but i hope you can find out who did this and punish them accordingly
:argue: |
Sh*te mate. having seen your car and passion for it.
Easiest solution which I have used is web cam - then you have option for PIR (film when there is movement) although that would be all day as your place is next to that side road, still capture every x seconds / minutes or leave it on. PC these days won't worry at all about being on all the time.. |
PM'd you Ska.
I have rolled out CCTV systems through massive places in the UK as part of my job (These days it is part of the computer systems known as IP CCTV) and whilst it is easy to capture these people (By webcam etc) staying legal and being able to use this evidence is extremely difficult in a court. You must ensure all your neighbours within the cameras field of vision consent to this as you are recording their property, ideally a signed piece of paper, as well as clear advertising on your house. In addition you must prove your timestamping is accurate (Sync'd to web time server etc) and that the footage is untampered with etc. Or if you just want a face shot so you can kick his head in stuff it ;) |

Thanks for all the messages of support guys. If anything its let me vent off a little.
The sratch will have to stay for a while not sure if all can be polished/wet sanded out. But will defo look up on these leads for CCTV you guys mentioned; how do you set up the camera to record when there is motion surely it can be adjusted for distance as the road Simon speaks of is 25ft or more from my drive which opens on to the footpath see pic. Whilst I understand & agrree that privacy is important, I can't believe how difficault it is to protect your own property these days. Reporting such a crime will just be a waste of my time. However, when I catch this scum and err... TALK to him about the errors of his ways I would be the one stood up in court WTH!! |
theres a good article on various ways to set up home security/monitoring systems in this week's computer active mag (issue 287 19 feb to 4 march)
it looks at motion detectors, netcams etc. If you want a copy Ska then PM me and I'll send it across +++ |
*Bill leans across his desk, moves the white cat aside and prods the talk button on the Tannoy "Keiill them".

You are my hero Bill. A dark cynic charged with our childrens development. Just thinking of the opportunities for world domination makes my heart flutter........ +++
