I know you are out of house and limited supplies but you could try to make a hook to use through ski hatch from the boot to open it from inside. If you pull handle once it unlocks the door and second pull opens them unless it is different on newer Audi's. You could use a pole from brush, wire cloth hanger and duct tape from nearby stores to make suitable tool.

I think mine doesn't open if the car is locked. IIRC I've accidentally locked it when I've been inside the car and the then the door handles don't work

M?ust be a safety feature in newer cars. It does work in my 1997 S8 and worked in 1994 and 1995 A6 I had, just tested 2001 A6 and it does not. I do have a manual from swedish security company Falck(equivalent to AA or RAC here) on how to get in cars without keys but it does not cover A8 and it's a bit old so mostly for older cars. Latest for Audi's is A6 C4 and it says to use inflatable pillow to push window down and then a hook on door handle.

Ok this is a long shot but if you can get to central lock unit in the boot, detach vacuum hose from it and feel if it is sucking while unlocking car when you here motor running. If it does not suck then pump have failed-quite common in Audi's and you should be able to unlock sucking by mouth on the vacuum hose, if it does suck then you have vacuum leak and I have not come up with idea to sort that out just yet unless you have access to very powerfull vacuum pump or even good household vacuum which you could try to attach to vacuum hose.

I can hear the pump running - is it still worth trying to get at it?

Breakdown man useless!

Definitely worth trying to get to.. maybe the pipe's came off.

If the doors have been deadlocked (quite likely), then they won't unlock with the handle inside.

Certainly, what you hear is motor running, what usually fails is the pump itself not the motor so you would still hear it running but it would not suck, you can buy repair kits on e-bay.

They always are unless you run out of petrol or get a puncture and do not fancy changing a wheel yourself. I never had signed for them but had quite a bit of funny stories from a friends one of the latest big mistakes was that AA man said fuel pump has packed up for a friend of mine when his C4 A6 stalled , they did tow him to me and it turned out that one side of engine lost oil delivery, camshaft seized up and cambelt jumped over, engine were a write-off.

Both pipes connected and pump pumping. Think it's prbably the key. Waiting for the battery disconnect for an hour and then try again

You probably have vacuum leak somewhere else, if pump activates it cannot be the key. I am not sure about vacuum pipes as mine only have 1 not 2. i will have a look around net to see if I can come up with something else, I do have advantage in speaking latvian, russian, english, danish and do understand a bit of swedish and norvegian.

if you hold the unlock button down on the key for many seconds will the windows all drop down and help you get in?
