Nah, with a bit skill (and some slightly sore knuckles I confess) its quite possible to to the parallel install without dropping the grovebox. Pop the cubby and CD changer out to give access and away you go... +++

OK.. less easy for those of us with ape hands... Though if you have a spare 10 year old it could work :)

All done +++

DVB-T isn't playing, so I'm going to run the disks again over the weekend.

Parallel installed the AMI, and to be honest, wished I'd dropped the glove box...cable-routing is a pain in the arse when they just don't want to go where you want them :(

Telephone isn't reading my phonebook. But I'm going to guess that's because I've got an Android phone, and all of my contacts are actually stored in the cloud, rather than on the phone/sim...anyone got any experience/tips on this? As I actually rather like having control of my contacts via Google. It's an HTC Sensation, which I'm sure I paired up with my old '57 A6

Only niggle? The bloody USB-Mini USB cable is waaaaayy too long :P

On my A7 the contacts didnt transfer either like this so in the end I copied the contacts onto an SD card then imported them onto the MMI - if you can try that it might work Tony ?

Not an option for me chap, no SD card reader in the '8 :(

Which version of Android do you have on the phone Tony?

Has the update sorted it? Though I'm also discovering the joys of the crap iPhone 4 connectivity to the later bluetooth kits.

A8_Tony 6th April 2012 09:59 AM

Got the phone connected now, but no phonebook import option :(

Going to try a couple of things:

1. Remove pairing from car & phone.
2. Reset Telephone module.
3. Re-pair phone to car.

Will let you know how I get on, as gotta take girls out now :) +++

Well that didn't bloody work!!

Frustrating as hell, might have to try my Desire HD and see if I get the same issue. If I do it's likely to be OS/Contact storage related. If not it's down to the phone gggrrrrrr :(

What you need is an rSAP adaptor!!
Ahemmm I happen to know someone who has one

A8_Tony 8th April 2012 09:06 PM

Unfortunately Neil, the rSAP adaptor would not be useful for me. Android phones apparently don't have an rSAP protocol built into them.

However, I've fixed the issue now, deleted my call logs, and job's a good 'un :D
