12.5. When an alleged offence meets the speed awareness criteria and the officer is considering this method of disposal, the driver should be advised that attendance would be voluntary as an alternative to prosecution. They will however, be required to pay for the course, the cost of which will vary according to where they choose to take the course. They can take the course at any location within the England and Wales in force areas that offer a nationally accredited course. If they fail to complete the course they will then be proceeded with by the issue of a conditional offer of a fixed penalty and court action if necessary.

Apparently I was doing 35mph in a 30 zone. No excuse but I remember seeing the speed camera van parked down a side road in the distance and looking at my speedo and sat nav which both said I was doing 30.

It was you I were following in A6 wasn't it? That would mean I have a good chance of getting ticket as well, my postman just might be slower delivering bad news. I did not see any vans in the distance, I saw one parked next to the road and also looked at speedo and satnav. Speedo was saying 30, satnav 28.
