Nowhere near it and my track record shows I'm rather good at getting good fuel consumptions out of vehicles. Never had less than 30mpg from the 3.0TDi and never more than 38mpg. The norm for me is about 35-36mpg

I did a run from Bristol to London, upto Ambleside in the lakes, down to Stockport then back to Bristol the other weekend ,in total 700 miles from one tank, using shell v power diesel in a D3 3.0 tdi 54 plate. Not done the maths, but had to be near 40mpg,I guess +++

so reality is that the LPG is a better option then if it was based on 145 for 1000 miles at 45mpg then 20 mpg on lpg is better in my opinion and effectively its 40mpg because its half the price, because i do not like the sound of an oil burner so that will be the better choice then i think

thanks again once again the forum pays off

Guy, be wary, LPG is more than half the price and the gap will shrink, the government will make sure of that. Anyone else remember when diesel was cheaper, before it got popular?

Personally, I'd stick with diesel, especially if you factor in it's stronger residuals and easier to sell on, whereas I fear you might be sat on your W12 for some time waiting for a deep-pocketed buyer

The 3.0 Diesel sounds 'ok' but definitely dieselly... The 4.2 is pretty silent.. and whenyou take the engine cover off, you can get your star wars toys out and pretend it's the attack onthe death star....

The 4.2 will also be higher insurance premiums, but nowhere as bad as the W12

daviesbike 29th June 2012 01:57 PM

thats the thing the W12 is cheaper to tax and insure by 500 quid my quote on a 4.2 was 1100 quid and the W12 is 670 Quid ? how you figure that out ?

briang9 29th June 2012 02:49 PM

remember LPG is harder to find as well Guy
