What's all that in the ash tray Ian?
sure | saw a microswitch....

As a non smoker, I was thinking of utilising that space for something more useful (to me)

Wouldn't mind an RNS-E in my PF one day (mainly for bluetooth, but the nav would also be more than useful) :)

TBH, its a heck of a lot of man hours to get an RNS-E into a PF properly. Been there and done that, and to be honest, a Pioneer Avic X1 BT (or similar) with its pop out screen that fits in a single din slot, is actually an easier install, and a more functional unit overall with DVD playback, funky G-sensors etc... +++

RNSE from a4

Does the above mean that the fascia from an A4 RNSE will trim down nicely to fit in an a8/s8...similar to an a6 rnse

A4 RNS-E is slightly too narrow left to right, so will leave very small gaps to either side, but to be honest you'll not really notice.

An A6 RNE-E is wider, but narrower top to bottom - But not too narrow to leave a gap.

The A6 unit is a slightly better overall fit if you're perfectionist, but the A4 one will do just fine for most.

The unit I sold Amanda was actually an A6 unit by the looks of the part number....

Yes it was but with an A4 fascia, so I fitted my A6 one and it fits fine now :)
