they sent me pics of it on the pitch
suddenly its not yet be prepared and been fully checked over
so no-one is allowed to view it

Well that’s not a very good start mate and for a member on what is the biggest A8 forum to quite rightly post up his "not good" experience for all to read :tuttut:

Are you going back for another look see?

briang9 9th October 2012 05:21 PM

alarm bells sounding very loud, I would walk away, tell them why and also that you posted it on here as well, if they had nothing to hide they would let you see it:tuttut:

No alarm bells at all. The dealer has a certain process they need to follow and the car needs to be prepared to a certain standard. It was an unreasonable and out of the ordinary request to see it at the body shop. They were up front about it going there and not all dealers have on site body shops, absolutely nothing fishy at all. You're buying an Audi approved car, the warranty will see you right and you will get a chance to inspect the bodywork before you buy it.

Or perhaps just a case of Internet forum induced paranoia. Stoke Audi's group do their own wheel refurbishments, which is hardly a negative. How would some fellow working out of the back a van in the back yard produce a better quality finish than a bodyshop with ovens etc? And why would a dealer try to arrange a visit to let anyone go wandering around their off-site bodyshop? That's a recipie for chaos.

I suspect the worst you could conclude is that they were a little permature in advertising before it was fully retail prepared.

Dunno... If it's just wheels, why wouldn't they let you see the car, even from a distance?

Dealer, knocking back a sale? Does seem a bit suspect.

tonupkid 9th October 2012 10:32 PM

Just go and see the bloody car (when it's there).
Or, if you want perfection, fork out the £90k and buy a new one.

Never heard of a car going into a body shop to have wheels done

thanks so far guys
lots of opinions there
ive had another email from them saying

Hi Robert,

I’m sorry if I have upset you in any way. And I can appreciate that you are a loyal customer to the brand. However Stoke Audi want the car prepared to our very high standards before we offer it for sale and as such have taken it off sale until we have confirmation that the car has passed our inspection standards. If and when we get this confirmation I will contact you.

SUPPOSE ILL JUST WAIT FOR THE CALL IF AT ALL
