If you need a BG TCU, I've got one, that came off a working '98 car. This is the same car my S8 AHC motor came from.
Part number is: 4D0 927 156 BG. |
All UK-spec 32V S8's were AHC. In Europe, AHC was supplemented by AKH.

Well I've done a bit more rummaging online and found indications that:
DTD is for an A8 QS with different ratios to the S8. S8 has used DYM ECX ECY and FBG! So combining all info that says mine "should" (Oct 98) be ECX. :Confused: Which says BL or BM version TCU. If I plug in VCDS will it give me the TCU version I have now? Will it say anything about the box? Nollywood, what vintage was the S8 your engine & TCU (BG) came from? |

So now I know it's an ECX and what I'm looking for (BL, optionally BM). +++ I also note that the coding is 00101. Not sure what that means. :Confused: Edit: Just had a good rummage here and on Audipages (and elsewhere) and it "looks" like the only other code worth trying is 00111 and some people have said that removes some of the "thumps" when slowing right down then speeding up - something I've had. So I'll try that sometime. Is there anywhere a "definitive" guide to these TCU codes, there's lots of info but it's very scattered and incomplete? |
My box thumps and bangs at low speeds i thought it was just because it's got close to 200k on it and i drive it like a prick at times.
I need to be shown about this electrickery stuff and coding, anyone want to show me at ADI? |
Is it the thump when you're idling at about 55-60? My PF did that, just a tiny touch of throttle when the revs dropped stopped the thump.. got used to left foot braking :)

Bear in mind thumps and bangs are very mechanical - I'd be surprised if much if anything shows up electrically, so VCDS might draw a blank in the same way the car has no clue how worn brakes pads are or the state of your pistons.....
Worth a nosey though +++ |
wouldnt it be funny if VCDS said that Dezzy was driving it like a pr*ck lol :ROFL:
