My advice would be to DEFINITELY change the cam belt before starting the engine, regardless of visual condition. Also, drain the fuel tank and change the fuel filter too. A squirt of oil down the bores and turn over with plugs out before first start also a good idea.

Oh and..... WOW!!

I can't believe how lucky you are, it's like finding a 500year old treasure on the bottom of the ocean.
All the best mate and PLEASE post some pics !!!!

Just one query:

You say it was bought in December 2001, but these weren't released until Feb/March 2002 according to this:

Could you effectively buy ahead of release?

May have been a pre-order - I'm sure Audi will have been marketing it ahead of release. Doubt there's many Avus/mauve leather combos that aren't Final Editions, probably none in fact lol. I guess if if was a Christmas present you'd be able to wrap the receipt and that'd have to do till the car showed up a few months later. The V5c will confirm registration date relative to order date

Welcome.
Can't wait to see pictures of the barn find.
Exterior and interior please.

'Barn find' and 'sat for over a decade' brings up as many visions to me of a mouldy rodent infested wreck as it does a shiny museum piece.

Real shame its avus silver and not ebony black (imo)

Certainly sounds interesting, but needs some photographic evidence to gauge how excited its worth getting......
