Was waiting for this to go out all day yesterday lol

The guidance note is 'our' work and the press notice re-written by someone who's job it is to make things sound news-worthy even if it means they don't make sense/read well/accurate

They must be confident that they know everything now about your car and its status . . . but why oh why cant they just put the cost onto petrol so that pro rata the more miles you do the more you pay

I don't think i should pay for the road when filling up my Historic vehicle, boat or generator it’s just not fair, well less fair than it is already.

Might get people thinking twice about using their cars all the time too and get people out on their bikes and using public transport...which is what the govt. want, isn't it?

Why should a little old lady who drives 1,000 miles a year pay the same as a sales rep touring the country doing 60,000 miles a year?

As above, if you’re not using the road it’s not fair to have to pay for it. Scrapping VED on non-polluting cars was a silly decision wasn’t it? Now the short fall has to be found by hitting everyone else hard. So the little old lady doing only doing 1000 miles a year should buy a band A car, or use her free bus pass.

Eventually it comes back to the originator and the cycle starts anew. :(

And I'm not kidding or exagerating!

Having worked in the Public Sector for 27 years (and proud of it) my experiences do not match yours.

I was under the impression that very little of the vehicle excise duty went on the roads. It just goes into the coffers and gets used for multiple other things aside from the upkeep of the roads. Road tax was abolished in the 1920s or 30s and VED is now just a tax on owning a vehicle rather than a tax for using the roads. That's how I saw it anyway.

+1
And is why that matey had reason to hold back payment, on the grounds we are engaged in an illegal war so by willingly paying tax you were contributing toward the funding of said war.
I'm sure it's been talked about before here just can't remember the name of his website....... Projectfreeman

Nice, but no time to read everything...

Can I remove the damn disc from my windscreen now?
If not, starting from what date can I remove the disc from windscreen?

Thanks.

Having worked for a University for 13 years (which is practically like public sector) and having had to deal with the public sector, I can reveal that 90% of non-lecturer jobs in a University are completely pointless and simply exist to serve convoluted government policies.
I am happy to say if these pointless policies did not exist I would not have a job.

...or pyramid building... That's more worthwhile...

Great... my tax expires in Nov 14, so I won't need to bother with a new disc... damn... just fitted a nice brand new Magnetax disc holder too. :(

HPsauce 6th December 2013 09:32 PM

I just got a nice new adhesive tax disc holder from Autoglass when they replaced my Focus windscreen on Wednesday.
My Audi one seems to be the original curly plastic thing from the dealer that first sold it.
