+++Well I had a lean bank on the S8 so was having a look today.
Guess what! http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/picture.p...&pictureid=730 Time for some new little links! |
Move the big arm by hand first, to make sure it's totally unhindered. ;)
|
Yes I should of added it moves fine, sprung loaded of course but I can operate it by hand no problems.
|
You know what at $89 + $35 for postage the aftermarket links are just too expensive for what they are.
I am going to buy some thread and ball sockets and make some myself +++ I will update on progress when they have arrived. |
Being just a little pedantic, Sir Will, and begging your pardon for being so, but this is not a secondary air injection system issue with which this thread started (although the original poster did stray onto the variable manifold system problem that his investigations highlighted - possibly because the vacuum required to control the variable intake manifold and the secondary air system is provided by the same two vacuum reservoirs). I am sure that there is a considerable thread on the subject of VIM/actuators/arms elsewhere.
Erm, I'll get my coat.... By the way, I think that you are right about the cost of the links. Look forward to seeing your results +++ |
Yeah I know, I have hijacked things a little +++
|
On my previous S8 I used stainless steel ones from RS components.
Next time round I'm going to use aluminium ones from ebay, easier to tap threads deeper and file down if needed. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....5&postcount=12 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/L800-M8-8m...item3cc0090445 and for the other end use a male track rod end, then you actually wont need to do any tapping of the female one, just cut/file down the male one if its too long. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Track-Rod-...item4ad8cb72f4 and yes, its nothing to do with secondary air injection :) |
Still nothing to do with secondary air injection......
But it's interesting as I have ordered the parts already but was on the the same thought process as you and bought RC car track rod ends! I remember having to buy them for my Tamiya Lunchbox all those years ago! |
Good stuff +++
post a pic when you install them it would be interesting to see how it looks. |
