Andrew, I've got four 9 spoke 20" FE wheels with 275/35/20 Vredestiens on which have done around 2k miles since refurbishment (new tyres after refurb)and have been stored since I took them off my D2 a year ago.

Let me know if you're interested +++

I notice my car's previous owner had 20" FE wheels on a car that wasn't optioned for them and he changed the front arms in 2012 (it was a November 2001 model).

Or maybe it doesn't matter, front arms wear out anyway with time?

They do wear out anyway, usually it's the bushes that go first but on occasion ball joints might give up as well. The difference in arms for 20" factory wheels is bigger diameter taper joint on 1 of the bottom arms. I assume this is to protect aluminium hub from damage.

Interested of course, PM me your thoughts on price and post some pictures somewhere please.
Are they diamond-cut refurbished (as new?) or fully repainted? And what exact model/spec tyres?

Standard tyre size was 255/35 ZR 20.

Rims were 20x8.5 for a D2

I'll post the full spec details later for both d2 and d3 fit if nobody else does :) am on route home from Birmingham at the moment

Basically d3 rim is 0.5" wider and a slightly larger tyre size. From memory the d3 rims fill the arches slightly better so I wouldn't rule out a d3 set as they're likely to be much newer/better condition

A diamond cut set will be fairly hard to find as only really a couple of places that can do the refurbs. It's easier to get them powder coated and painted which is what most do.

Can thoroughly recommend Michelin super sports for summer tyres if they come without :)

OK, precise wheel specs:

D2
8.5Jx20 ET45 4d0601025ae
255/35R20 97 ZR(Y) XL

D3
9Jx20 ET46 4e0601025af
275/35R20 102 ZR(Y) XL

I would say the extra width isn't a major issue.

Details on the fitting here:

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=46#content

Sticking out an extra 5mm will fill the front arches quite nicely, although the rears on mine (8.5") are spaced out 20mm!

The higher load index of the tyre intended for the D3 won't help the ride quality - if fitting new tyres to 9" rims on a D2 finding some in 97 load index would be beneficial. There's a 98 available for Super Sports

The change in rolling radius will help the gearing at motorway speeds, although not by very much!

They are indeed. I had them done in a very, very light gunmetal.

Complete with new tyres that have maybe done 4000 miles.

I'd be looking £1,000.

I can get photos if interested.

Thanks folks, so far at least 3 sets of 4 seem to be around (Lyons, Norretal and Roberto), but if I'm reading it right they're all 9" D3 ones with wider tyres (275 vs 255) and one at least is still diamond cut. All seem to be just 4, not 5, or is that normal for D3 - spare different?

On the other hand, ideally I'm after 5 of the 8.5" D2 variety and last time I looked A8parts did actually have 5 of those in need of a refurb. I need to check out the options and put my thinking cap on.

This might have to wait until after Xmas, but given the time some of these have been available that doesn't seem to be a problem. Keep the options and information flowing. :D

Thanks, Adrian. Interesting that as for 8.5 wheels 255 is listed by tyre size guides as the maximum whereas 235 or 245 are considered normal.
Also 245/35R20 is almost exactly (within 1mm) the same as 245/45R18 whereas 255/35 is just over 1% bigger.

Does anyone use or have used 245/35R20?
