To be fair, I usually treat it to IMO/ARC's finest, which does a half decent job.

I do take it to hand car washes (when I have more time) to get the wheels more thoroughly cleaned, but I'm usually in too much of a rush to go to hand car washes every time. Anyway (if Fifth Gear's findings are to be believed), contrary to popular belief, the likelihood of paint scratches is greater at the hand car washes than automatic ones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZjWkB_q2lE

OCD crew reporting for duty! :D

I'd tend to agree - all those gritty sponges at a hand car wash must be pretty bad for the paint.

I'd like to take mine to a car wash for an underbody wash after they've stopped putting all the salt and cr*p on the roads, but having had it 'detailed' a couple of times, I daren't!

I was planning to phone my learest arc/imo car wash to ask if they can programme it not to use the brushes.

But I certainly won't get the wheels cleaned there. I have no ideas what they use, but when I used to use them, my alloys suffered big time.

Do automatic car washes and fixed aerial go together? I would like to wash underside of mine in automatic car wash but never been to one in S8. Have used them couple of times in previous cars that had telescopic aerials.

I usually just unscrew and remove my aerial.

Other than not getting my alloys spotlessly clean, I've never had any problems. I think what they use varies a little from site to site though.

I called them, and they can't (at least that's what I think he said - strong Dumbarton accent!).
