The D3 battery management is very good, and the amount of current you get from the solar panels is feeble. Id much rather have a cool cabin, than an overly charged battery. Yes, it sounds slightly cool to say your solar panel charges the battery, but its one of the mods that is (a) quite difficult and (b) not actually of any real benefit imo.... |
Having had issues with D3 management in the past I did look into it and given the number of cells on the roof it would output, 3Amps of power and 35W and that's the same as a Cetek trickle charger.. In theory it would charge a battery just fine +++
I must be honest though ( touching wood profusely) I’ve had no issues with the new car battery wise at all its honestly perfect .. Maybe if it’s not broke ...I should ... :tuttut: |
I think it would be cool - and don't see any problem hooking it right up to the BEM as it will only trickle charge and only in the day. Mine will charge with the ignition off - I have done this overnight in the past
