Audifin. thanks for the reply.
you have a 4.2 TDi .. love it? any regrets? you are correct i think it want to be an S8. registered March 2006 . lower tax £290py thanks for your time raj |
Yes I love it, no regrets at all+++
I would love to have LWB, but in practice I couldn't live with it.. The SWB is difficult enough to park in car parks, let alone multi-storeys of airports, shopping malls etc. |
4.2 Tdi is a cracking engine. Yes, it has some turbo lag but once on the move its blistering. Best overall D3 engine there is, which I've said many times....
LWB is not so good though. A bit too big, and different gear ratios make it far less sporty. If you're looking for a tidy, high spec 4.2 Tdi SWB I really ought to let mine go. Its been owned by 3 forum members including me, and its nice and original bar the removal of the DPF which is a routine nuisance on the 4.2 Tdi, and a remap, which has improved it quite considerably. I did the same on our Q7 too and its so much better as a result. I only use it for the occasional long haul, but its a bit much to be sat on the drive just for that and the RS6 is having its first service today <gulp> so I guess I will be feeing a bit broke tomorrow +++ Here's a link I did in January. Its about as genuine as they come. I sorted a bunch of little niggles when I took it as a P/X several months ago and I've not really used it much since. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9427 |
Agree with Audifin .. its been messed with, Facelift front bumper fogs ect FL rear lights S8 boot lid S8 rear bumper for the Quads, and FL wing mirrors with Indicators, interior spec is different and the piping is nice, but its defiantly a PF car in terms of not 2007+ as the MMI console is standard no Chrome Stop start button ect
i would be asking is the seller an audi enthusiast and its all been done by himself, or was there a bump and a good excuse to upgrade the bumpers ect? |

Wouldn't touch it for any amount of money with those 'modifications' |
the car is at a dealers.
now that you have raised the possibility of an 'upgrade' following a bump, which would not be out of the question, i am going to give this one a miss. thanks for your guidance. raj |
Why pay £8k for a 4.2TDI when you can get short and long wheelbase W12s for under £10k and probably less mileage?
Just my personal preference having browsed both on Autotrader. Ah, just remembered you said its going to be a daily driver, maybe fuel costs of W12 will be significantly more. |
