That D3 looks mint, you bought it?

RanjS8 1st March 2012 12:55 PM

Mileage and d2

I am not sure about d3s but with d2s mileage should not be an issue. The engines are awesome they will do 300k easily....it's the gearbox that needs to be considered....so long as it has been serviced or replaced you shouldnt have issues....and you can tell this car has been well looked after and I think there really won't be much out there that compares....the spec on this car is unreal...and the mods have been tastefully done....I think the reasoning on this should be as follows: car bought at 3250 plus LPG at 1800 wil cost just over 5k....the car should then last at least 50k miles...which is about 3yrs say....at which point the car will be worth at least 1.8k even with 200k...since the exhaust, wheels and lpg kit will still be worth 1500 alone...that's at a cost of 1k a year...which really is amazing.

Anyone looking for an a8 with toys...this is the one in my book...you can tell from pics of the engine bay it is mint!!!!

I agree its perfect, and would buy it had I not spent so much getting mine to where its at now as daviesbikes one has everything I wanted when I got mine. I just cant justify purchasing it so soon after getting the one I have.

Any buyer seen your car will want it straight away.
I am sure u will get plenty of offers - but stick to your gun and I reckon u will get of offer very close to your asking price!

PS: How come u not taken the quads off too?

I agree - I would love to buy it - but I can't really stretch to 5K for a 99-plate. Interesting u mentioned lasts 50k.....I have the same feeling, but for the LPG perspective.....I have heard by 50-60k on LPG the engine would have been quite worn by the LPG.....though many have also said their LPG cars last longer than that....

Singh 1st March 2012 06:01 PM

LPG isn't that economical, if you want a luxury car that is cheap to run get a 3.0 TDI A8.
The A8 4.2 V8 on LPG will have similair fuel economy to a 2.5 V6 petrol engine'd car, but if the V8 noise is a must then LPG will make it a little cheaper to run, don't make the mistake I did, sell up a 50+MPG BMW 320D and expect the A8 4.2 LPG to give you the same return.

A8pilot 1st March 2012 06:28 PM

As a matter of interest, what do the 3.0 TDi's do in the real world mpg wise?

I would say 38-45 mpg all day long depending on how they are driven.
I averaged 44mpg driving around in an A6 allroad for a week recently and my A7 3.0 Tdi is averaging 40-44 even though my driving is a little more enthusiastic!

i sold my BMW 120d and got a Legacy LPG - it was the best thing I've done for ages. I had everything (toys) and the performance (242bhp) not to forget the practicality of an estate and the bullet-proof engine.....for the same MPG as the 120d + a little more for insurance.

But, I am a car-hopper (change of scenario) so have decided on an A8 - and judging from the forum here, It should be even better than legacy!

Again I could be wrong (figures from Parkers).
I weigh with buying a diesel or petrol_lpg, and parkers came back with something like 28-33 for diesel and 23 for petrol (4.2 quattro auto D2)

If I go for LPG, then the petrol would be doing abt 40mpg.

have I got this wrong, or are we talking abt modern diesels which are way out of my price bracket?

daviesbike 1st March 2012 06:54 PM

just to update the Rs6 wheels will now be sold, and if the car has not sold by the 10th then its going else where

Singh 1st March 2012 06:59 PM

Guy if the px guy has offered near £3k, I would de spec it and sell it, that is a great price. +++

daviesbike 2nd March 2012 05:56 AM

yea i contacted him and told him i will de spec it and they will give me £2,500 for it De speced so wheels will go, maybe i will take the mirrors off as they are oem and worth i would say £250 at least not sure about the grill as i only have the top grill to put back on but i have all the spares so i could always sell the A8 grill and all the A8 parts i have floating around +++

Dezzy 2nd March 2012 09:02 AM

Good news then Guy I hope you get your hands on that W12 soon as mate. +++

After hearing of a concern about the photo i posted earlier in this post, i would just like to say i was only making a point and no A8's were harmed in the making of it. :D
