I think those wheels are putting many people off. I did put in a bid on last auction on behalf of a friend and he was not prepared to bid more in big part because of the wheels as it would cost a fair bit of money to get another set and selling these would not bring much money in return.

I'd agree - If that A8 came up in my favourite searches I'd immediately dismiss it as a low spec non-looker that I wouldnt really want to be driving. I definitely wouldnt be clicking on the advert or taking it further, which is a real shame as I'm sure it is still a really lovely example of a D2. If you'd left some Avus on it, it'd probably have sold by now +++

Wheels

The wheels were a personal preference....but from a selling point of view I have to agree....I have a set of 20s sitting in the garage needing a respray.....if it doesn't go this weekend ....then i ll whack them on and keep it as a good example.

No point selling it for £1,800, unless you're broke, which you're not. Keep the car. I've just been given a convertible company car by my boss. It is super duper gay - but I haven't got a choice, give me a D2 anyday, in fact, I may opt out and do just that.

your boss probably thought he was doing you a favour with the warmer weather coming in and also I guess the garage wants to promote convertibles as the season begins - somehow I bet they never actually ask you before they give you the car though!

money i get for the car

I m not too worried how much I get for the car to be honest.

Up to recently I ve been using a vw bora as my daily commute, which does the job but really is dull!!!!

Past couple of months, I have been switching between two D2s in preference as they are just so much more comfortable and hassle free on the motorway. But the fuel costs arent favourable. And I ve had to spend valuable time doing a few jobs to get them up to scratch.

Now I just want to combine the two above.....but be able to concentrate my energies elsewhere. So the above have to go to make space....hence the low price.

Just make me an offer.....the car has loads of extras in comparison to many examples out there including servotronic /relatively low mileage/full history and 2 keys/ and a full cambelt change recently.

For those that dont like the wheels....there is a set of avus going for about 350 at present....where as these wheels alone are fetching better money....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-No...item2a2b966f4e....

Those are different and a bit more to my taste and just because someone is asking that kind of money does not mean they will sell for that money

Alloys

Whoops my mistake....wrong alloys need to have my eyes tested....anyway point is that the current wheels must be worth 150....at least....and a replacement set shouldn't cost moe than 200 to 300 on top....that is at max 3 tanks of fuel....

See what happens....someone will buy it I am sure.

Sounds like a nice boy Amar, the benifits given to the moden hairdresser

Ranj i'm so tempted but i just can't atm for a couple of reasons.
The wheels are ok, ish, they'd make a nice set of winters.

RanjS8 4th May 2013 11:32 AM

Tempting

At this price I m sure it is very tempting....an a8 with this specs really doesn't come along very often....this is the third and final time I ll put it on ebay after that I m gona let it hang around for a couple months....you never know you might get a second bite later down the line.

Now isn't that just typical!?! I was just talking to a mate last night who was admiring mine and I said "I know where there's one for sale just like it, but with LOTS more toys, and would cost less than what I've laid out on this recently!"

That must have pushed the deal through for you Ranj, congratulations on the sale, it was a bargain at that price +++

The_Laird 9th May 2013 10:56 AM

Is the new owner coming to the annual meet?

RanjS8 9th May 2013 12:12 PM

Bargain

It did let it go very cheaply to be honest....but for now it was a good move far as I m concerned.....if I had been more patient I know I would have got a better price....but easy come easy go....

I have to apologise I forgot to mention the annual meet....but I ll let him know about the forum and I m sure he will come on to here at some point.
