And I know we're off topic.

We do that, a lot.

But the topic here was Amars super car that he's going to buy (g1t)

However, its no longer that desirable as I see it has no heated steering wheel. Pah. And in this weather, I mean, how would you cope with such an obvious ommision like that ? Cheap skate first owners, they're the death of would-be-nice motor cars... :D

1991 would put it on an early facelift 4x4 wouldnt it ?

Yes Ian early facelift with clear indicators and tinted rear lenses as standard.Start at between 4 to 5k for a nice low owner example +++

sarg 17th January 2013 03:15 AM

Amar, can I have a job please :)

Whatever it is you're doing now is clearly paying well +++

Singh 17th January 2013 12:27 PM

Just sent across the deposit. It's mine. Collect next weekish when or when I get a free day. Got the wheels refurbished and an Audi warranty for a year as part of the deal.

Lucky Tw....

Sorry, I mean, congratulations :p

Looking out on my drive, there is 450bhp of W12 D3, and 300 and something BHP of S4 B8 out there. They are both not exactly slow cars by most peoples standards and yet will get absolutely slaughtered by that C6...

Enjoy.

Remember, me bagsy first shout when you sell... ;)

P.S. Sad I know, but I am actually curious what the MPG is like... The book suggests its mid 20's.... Let me know...

Singh 17th January 2013 01:20 PM

Yes, Ian. You have first reserve. I do want to keep it up until Aug '14 at least though as I am in charge of cars for my cousin's wedding, and I was planning to run the Porsche until then, and then swap it for a D4 S8, but I think this will make a cracking wedding car, along with the D4.
I dunno, Adrian. If people in the RS circles find out the car is for sale, they may outbid me, although I think the current seller is a man of his word, better wait until I collect it just encase anything goes wrong, you guys always hear it here first.
Ian, you will see it soon I am sure but may be a little underwhelmed as I was having been in a 740 BHP C6 in the past, because of the better build/refinement and double glazing it has, it didn’t really feel much quicker than mine, there is no lag either, you feel the turbos kick in on the C5 at 3k RPM, but on this it is so linear.

David got 22 MPG on the way to work with the adaptive cruise on, looking at his posts. According to the main man at quattro GmbH, it is 25% more economical than the C5 due to the FSI engine. Book says 27 motorway.

Adrian E 17th January 2013 02:22 PM

Will be interesting to see what the real world figures are like for similar usage to your C5 - tank average in that must be mid-teens I guess if you don't cane the arse off it?

Singh 17th January 2013 02:57 PM

Plus is showing around 18 at the moment, not reset it in a while, that's probably the average over the last 2k miles. Mix of motorway/town/blast.

daviesbike 19th January 2013 08:49 AM

for the same money i cant help but think id get an R8 ... i mean you wanted a porsch right ? why not an R8 ... supercharged no less +++

Singh 19th January 2013 09:25 AM

I simply didn't want one, I did consider a GTR and 997 Turbo even the new F10 M5, briefly, if I went R8 it would have to be the V10 and that's 65k+. Also, an R8 is too flash for me at the moment. I get enough snidy comments from people as it is, "Where did you get the money for that?" By working my ass off, of course. Plus, I want to send my parents away on a holiday of a lifetime this year as a surprise or do something really nice for them as they work hard but never take a break or treat themselves. So I need to have money for that.

2k miles and a month in and I cannot believe how utterly perfect the C6 RS 6 is.

I realised this whilst sat on the motorway yesterday with the adaptive cruise on doing a three figure speed, I turned the volume down on the stereo and was amazed at how incredibly quiet it was in the cabin (the optional double glazing must help here) and then I remembered that this is the same car that only days previously had caused my mate to text me saying 'OMFG, was that you that just drove past, your car literally shook the house - much louder than the plus', and the same car that has beaten a £350,000 Porsche Carrera GT Supercar at VMax, yet taken my mum, dad, my baby nephew, sister and I on a six hour round trip journey in absolute comfort.

The interior has a real 'Made of granite' feel about it, I set the sat nav by talking to it, the brakes are incredible, the steering is so unlike any Audi I've driven (and that's a good thing), it goes around corners pretty much flat yet still rides over bumps the way I would expect an A8 to.

I've done 2,000 miles in it (some going when I have a company car for commuting) and I've only just had it a month, I've been planning unnecessary trips for next month which should put another 1,000 or so on, I am just addicted to it. It is the best car I've ever owned.

IT 4th March 2013 04:49 PM

I think its possibly a combination of the C6 being very good, and the C5 being quite dated by todays standards. The contrast must be quite amazing. I found the C5 basic 4 years ago, so today it must really be for the classic enthusiast market only....

I'm not sure the ride would be quite so wow if you stepped out of a D3, or even a D2 for that matter, but glad you're loving it.

The power however will be quite something no matter where you come from I dont doubt....

C6 is still one chassis I've not owned, and with the B8 up for sale now, temptation will be increasing over the next few weeks :D

Singh 4th March 2013 05:03 PM

You won't regret it, Ian. The ride is better than a D2 sport in comfort IMO and not as much difference from the D4 SE which I have also done a lot of miles in. It's really that good.

IT 4th March 2013 05:33 PM

Whats your real world MPG just out of interest..... ?

Singh 4th March 2013 06:47 PM

Around town, 8-9, if you take it really easy 10-11ish. I did 22.3 steady run. My average is about 12 as when I drive it I enjoy it as it's a fun car not a commute car. I have a daily driver.
