Great taste for bikes and cars sir ;) Mine is candy red though, model year 2000. Had it since 2004 and 3200 miles.

Sounds all too familiar Del, he certainly has some tales to tell

Nice one mate, quality counts, eh? ;)

Delboy 22nd July 2014 01:05 PM

I'm sure being in the HSE department he gets to hear some pretty wild things.

This book is a funny read and kinda gives you an idea to what life can be like when you work in the industry of oil and gas although I don't do rigs anymore, much more sensible now.

My one and only Honda but I'm on my 3rd Audi also ;)

ScottD3 22nd July 2014 01:28 PM

Honda and Audi going hand in hand here?

Only had one Honda but on my second Audi.

I miss my little CB-1.

Architex_mA8tey 22nd July 2014 07:37 PM

3 Hondas and 5 Audis here lol

tonupkid 22nd July 2014 08:48 PM

Does a Triumph Acclaim count as a Honda? If so
1 x Honda (ish)
4 x audi

Good job I proof read this post. I'd missed the 'o' out of count. An apt bit of uintended irony there

ScottD3 23rd July 2014 06:58 AM

Morning all,

Lets see these bikes then.

This my old CB-1 400.

The pics are crap but I was 17 at the time and digital cameras was a bit to expensive for me.

M-A8 10th August 2014 08:32 PM

Hellooooo Gents :pint:

I'm back, ish, I'll be back for good over the next week :pint:

Apologies for my absence to those who were concerned, but a lot happened and I went through a looooooot of s**t :pint:

Main one was the back injury and to understand how bad it was let me tell you that an average trip to toilet was taking me between 20 to even 40min on certain occasions :pint:

I was also dealing with serious family matters back home, mainly my mum, and on top of it my relationship :pint:

To add more drama to last few weeks, just before having my 6 weeks holiday I've been given a electrical testing certificate which basically scraped my idea of 6weeks holiday as I was forced by this piece of paper to rewire the whole school within 5-6weeks (power and lighting, 8 weeks job) :pint:

In the mean time I lost my phone. My Mrs said its a sign and I should just take it easy because my back went again (stress this time) and just forget about the phone for few weeks and you know what, it was the best advice I could get. No phone calls, no access to private and work emails, amazing :pint:

I struggled for first few days, but then it was just a great ''experience'' :pint:

Because of that I'd like to apologise to everyone who sent me a PM and got no reply (I've just noticed how many PMs I've got), I'll be replying to this messages in next few minutes (all the PMs notifications are delivered via my work email) :pint:

Other than that did anyone bought/upgraded their car in recent weeks?? :pint:
Any interesting news or mods?? :pint:

I will be going through all the threads one by one in next few days :pint:

Worst two things of all: car wasn't driven for weeks and wasn't cleaned for even more weeks :( :pint:

Architex_mA8tey 10th August 2014 09:00 PM

Hi Marcin, good to know youre ok and getting there with things - we missed you and of course your understated use of Icons on the forum, but it helped bandwidth for a week or two!! :p

Seriously though dont mess with your health, take it easy and I hope that things improve for you - we could have washed your car for you at the Audis In The Park meet today due to rain and rising water levels!!

See you soon Cheers Neil +++

ha ha ha +++ sorry, but icons sometimes can describe the emotions better than words, such us :angry4: , :D especially when communicating via ''electronic devices'' not face to face.

AITP noooooooooooo, don't tell me it was this weekend???
If so this is the only way how I feel right now :angry4:

Such a shame, I was really really looking forward to this event, but looks like time was going faster than I thought.

Are there any news about the SE meet Neil??

ScottD3 11th August 2014 08:16 AM

Welcome back M-A8.

You're back and feeling better. That's what counts.
The car can be sorted out later.
It is just a machine, despite how we feel and treat it at times. +++

How was AITP6, apart from being wet?

Marcin

I find prune juice and plenty of fruit helps with that! :D

Good to have you back! +++

chucklestinlegs 11th August 2014 02:13 PM

nice 2 have you back Bro, its been very quiet without you +++

M-A8 12th August 2014 06:57 AM

Morning :pint:

Cheers guys :pint:

Jim, this was the average time of me getting to the actual toilet from my bed not the time spent on the toilet ;) , later on I got creative and my Mrs was parking her beach blanket by the bed, I was ''jumping off'' the bed straight on it and then she dragged my across the corridor and ''dropping off'' by the toilet door :D :pint:

Good to be back :pint:

Norretal 12th August 2014 07:54 AM

Good to have you back Marcin, hope you're back to your best very soon +++

M-A8 12th August 2014 08:06 AM

Cheers Ron :pint:

I am back to my best, it's the catching up game which is killing me. So much stupid office work it's shocking, but hey, when I win the lottery I wont have to worry about this silly things

Actually I'm more stressed about rewiring my headlights and my brake calipers and detailing, as I may not have enough time to do it this or next month :-(

BTW, car is looking stunning +++

Funny you should say that, it's not at the moment, it "died" a few weeks ago :(

Should be resurrected within a week or so, I'll update when it is +++

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo o, what happened ???

Norretal 12th August 2014 08:31 AM

Developed a misfire a few weeks ago, hoped it was coil packs or similar but no such luck. Broken flap(s) in the inlet manifold, new one required.

Not to worry, it'll be sorted properly +++

:-(
Still, having your baby injured and off the road is devastating.
How much this will set you back??

Norretal 12th August 2014 09:21 AM

I'll post an update when it's all sorted, costs, pics, as much info as I can share, it may be helpful to other forum members in future +++

M-A8 12th August 2014 10:00 AM

Please do, still, not the best news.
Hope you get it back on the road soon, well, you will, but the first drive after not having the car for a while is just amazing, especially in A8

Norretal 12th August 2014 11:14 AM

I'm certainly looking forward to getting it back Marcin, it'll be almost five weeks I've been without it. On the plus side, the wife's car has never been so clean ;)

I have done quite a bit of research into this particular problem and this is an example I found...........

https://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...19875184700508

Grim reading indeed :-(

ScottD3 12th August 2014 11:34 AM

M-A8, trying to keep the DIY thread on course, I thought I'll post my comment in here.

Still waiting on a redundancy date for the wife but we got a feeling it will be about the end of september. It also looks like she's going to take up to a 10k pay cut to get a job that she wants over a job for the money.
We've spent the last 9 years of our relation missing so many family events, weekends together and christmases cause of her job. So she's looking at something a bit more sociable for us, 9-5 monday to friday style job.

With this in mind I'm going to start doing extra work and building things for people again.
I need to start building up the garage tools again since I don't have access to my friends or families any more.
Got some bits to sell to help fund the lathe, pillar drill, band saw and such.

Norretal, That's not a nice thing to be looking at.
Is that what you think yours will need doing?

M-A8 12th August 2014 11:48 AM

Oh yeah, of course, sorry for posting it in your DIY thread, I will remove this in a minute :pint:

I hear you Scott and I know what you mean. My Mrs works all the weekends, most Bank Holidays, Christmas etc. plus she works midday/afternoon till very late :pint:
No social life, little relationship life, a real pain, but she is doing some extra qualifications as we speak so hopefully it will all change this year :pint:

You can have plenty of money but if you dont have who to spend them with its not worth it, you can't put the price on family time and time spent together, family/relationship should always comes first, and me and my Mrs we learned that the hard way in past couple of years :pint:

Ron, this is a tragic picture. Just a misfire could mean that you were fairly lucky and nothing got inside the engine like on that picture, so it could be a good thing you having it done :pint:

mannyo 12th August 2014 11:56 AM

Marcin,

Good to see you back posting, hope things are getting better. I think its the season for 8's breaking down. My D3 also required the services of an AA recovery truck week before last, but it was all sorted in a couple of days by the main Audi dealer in Poole at no cost (lovely new set of brand new ignition coils).

ScottD3 12th August 2014 11:57 AM

That's our thinking mate.
As long as we can survive and enjoy our lives.

We would like to have loads of money to do what we want and can dream off but its pointless having all the money you can earn and no one to enjoy it with.

Good luck to your wife mate, hope it works out for her and you.

i'm currently stuck in a dead end IT job.
I was going to start looking for something else but that's been put on hold till the wife is sorted out, then hopefully next year I'll start looking at new work for me.

Hi Manny, looooong time. Good to hear from you mate. How's things??? :pint:

I've had a misfire before going to annual meet so I just changed the whole lot as all coils were same (changed few years ago) so when one fails, you know that others will fail soon after :pint:

IT, well, I've got 2 diplomas in IT but after 8 years of extra education to get them I lasted only a year in it, realized I couldn't do that for a living :pint:

Thanks god my education involved other bits like electronics, telecommunication and even building your own electronic devices from scratch, even making your own PCB. Still got some IT in me, but if you dont follow it through all the years you just like dinosaur.
I enjoy electronics till today, but as a hobby, from sky boxes to latest smatrphones, water damaged or components replacement, anything really with a motherboard inside. I fix smartphones on weekly basis, literally, friends, their families, their friends and friends of friends of friends :pint:

It's nice to have lots of money, I went through this twice in my life, as a teenager and mid 20s, end up once in loosing my girlfriend coz of working 7 days a week and once in just splashing all the money on crap just to get ride off it from the account as a act of desperation for the lost long days at work :pint:

Few years ago I decided to balance it and focus on my family :pint:

Having lots of money is nice as long you don't have to work for it like a donkey in India (which my Mrs supports btw via charity which looks after hard working donkey, no joke) :pint:

ScottD3 12th August 2014 12:25 PM

10 years in IT and been bored of it for the last 6.
Only here cause its a job and I get paid for doing something I can do with my eyes closed.

I prefer electronics, a lot like your self by the sounds of it.
build, modding and fixing PCBs is cool but I want to start making items for them to go in.

A change of career is needed but that won't happen this year, possibly next year but its to easy to sit here and get paid doing nothing lol

What do you do now?
If you don't mind me asking.

But, for goodness sake, Marcin, that's enough beer for today! :D

mannyo 12th August 2014 12:58 PM

26 years in IT, but not doing the same job in all that time. its actually 26 years with the same employer, I was a young 20 years old when I started with them and now rapidly approaching 47.

ScottD3 12th August 2014 01:02 PM

IT is not what it was when I first started.
The beast has changed and I don't like it.

I should have stuck with mechanics.

Life begins at 47 or something else motivating lol

M-A8 12th August 2014 02:40 PM

Site Manager working for the Bexley Council

Getting paid for doing nothing=boring was one of the reasons why I left.
And you are so right about IT not being same thing what what years ago.

Jim, it's an A8 Pub :D
What Pub would that be without lots of beer

....ufff, I'm gasping now after 3 paragraphs without a drink :pint: :pint: :pint:

Changing career is not always that easy, but many people don't even realize how many transferable skills they may have from the current job where they stuck for years. There is plenty of companies which help people with the assessment of what this skills are and giving you at the same time careers where this skills are essential and base on that you can make the decision. And very often when you look at the list of alternative jobs you will realize, ohh, I can do that, or I would love to do that for a living... :pint:

M-A8 23rd August 2014 07:45 PM

Evening Gents :pint:
It's official, there is something wrong with me and MOTs
3rd year in a row I missed my MOT expiry date.
This year by the week, 17th of Aug :pint:
I was coming back with missus and daughter from cinema and I was thinking about my tyres and MOT and suddenly in the state of panic I asked my not better half to quickly get the MOT certificate from the glove box :pint:
And that was it, it was official doooh :hammer:
:pint:

I will be buying tyres over the weekend and booking my self for MOT as soon they arrive. So with no car till at least Thursday/Friday :angry3:

Speak to you later guys :pint:

I did the same earlier this year, missed it by more than 2 weeks.

It really bugs me that the DVLA send you a free reminder to renew your road fund licence, yet you have to pay a fee to get an MOT reminder, not sure how that is promoting road safety, the cynic in me thinks they'd rather collect the fines for expired MOTs.

I now have a reminder written on my key ring courtesy of MOT station used last time +++

M-A8 24th August 2014 09:18 AM

I know Sarg, is really frustrating, but this time I will pay that bloody 5quid or whatever it is for a text reminder instead of hundreds of pounds in year's time in case I forget again.
Few years ago, MOT station which were members on Good Garage Scheme were giving you at the end of MOT a sticky plastic square thing with led on. There was a check button, when you you pressed it it will flash, 5 times=5months into your MOT, 10=10months into your MOT, but for the last month it will flash automatically every week and in last 7 days it will flash many times during the last 7 days changing led colour to red, I think.

Don't need any more reminders, got the key ring thingy and also since found out I can program a reminder into my on board computer thingy so this is also set now +++
