Enjoy it! Best part of 9000 ft of climbing, I'm just too heavy for that :)

Went for a cycle round Arran last week, well it was summer then...

77 miles with 5600 feet of climbing

My latest project arrived on Monday, took it to my LBS to have the BB shell faced and collected it at lunchtime today and the build began

This project came about after I upgraded the groupset on my Look to Ultegra leaving me with a 105 groupset sitting in the garage. The plan was to buy an old frame and fling some of my bits onto it, so I looked at winter frames from the usual sources but nothing took my fancy, then I was offered the Dedacciai for a silly price and with a bit of haggling I bought it at an even sillier price that I would have been stupid to refuse. The only parts I've bought for this build was a seatpost, I've plenty of 27.2mm posts but no 31.6mm so I had to splash out on that and also a front derailleur clamp plus £20 for my LBS to face the BB shell and chop the steerer tube, everything else came out of my ever growing parts bin

Weight isn't bad considering it's a parts build, I guess I could get sub 7 kilos if I splashed some cash, but then I would still have all these parts left and the circle would begin again

Just need to take it for a test ride, then chop the cables and wrap the bars

Nice... SWMBO still won't let me buy more bits, let alone the rest of the bike :)

The money you guys spend on these bikes is mental, I have a work mate thats got a bout 20k invested in bikes.

If thats your thing then great but its missing an internal combustion engine IMO.

However when we left Wales on the Sunday after the meet I passed a lunatic on a push bike head down ass up going down a big hill and he was going about 80mph in that funny looking clothing that you guys wear.

Take my hat of to him for having the balls to do that with no leathers. :respekt:

It's very easy and always has been. My dad was a bike nut (didn't drive) and used to buy hand-built models that were light as a feather back in the sixties!
They would cost the same as an ordinary car.

The first "proper" bike I got as a young teenager was also hand-built and I could lift it with one finger - just. It was about a third of the weight of my friends Raleigh etc. and an awful lot faster.
It lasted me about 10 years and was stolen from the storage shed at my flat in Maida Vale in my early twenties.

Cycling is the new golf, but a lot more expensive

All dialed in now and running smooth

Ride like a Pro 2015 brings cyclists of all levels together for a series of local ride out events and a national Grand Final. Participants can enjoy the excitement of the peloton on a 30-50 mile route, with support all the way from the official Team Sky support car - the Jaguar XF Sportbrake.

A lucky rider from this ride out will be drawn to join other winners from across the UK to have their skills tested on two wheels and four in the Ride like a Pro Grand Final in September. So whatever your cycling experience, join our ride out for the chance to win a luxury cycling package including a Pinarello DOGMA F8, co-engineered by Jaguar, and an eight-day cycling experience in Tuscany.

Riders can enjoy refreshments before the grand depart as well as when they cross the line. There will also be the opportunity to take a closer look at the impressive Jaguar range. Ride out places are limited so please register now by completing the form below to avoid disappointment.

Rode the Sky Ride event on Sunday. 40 miles and 2,800 of elevation. The sun shone but the halfway stop was too long allowing us to cool down too much, therefore starting again was a struggle especially as it was uphill for a mile or two. All in all a good day cycling along behind the Team Sky Jaguar F-Type though sadly I never had the speed to pass it :(

I enjoy your regular updates on this thread, always interesting reading. How many bikes do you actually own right now, I can't keep up? I cycle myself but just a MTB and only to work and back (6 miles a day) and the odd ride out on a weekend, 20 miles at most. I had a Specialised racing bike a few years ago but sold it because I hardly used it, it felt too flimsy, but that's probably because I'm a hefty lump

A mate of mine just completed the coast to coast (Whitehaven to Sunderland) over three days on a BMX, while camping each night. He had to replace his seat post after the first day as it bent due to him carrying his camping gear on his back, and had to pedal standing up for the early part of the second day till he found a cycle shop to buy a new post........he's a little eccentric to say the least :)
