How about this one?
https://www.leicesterautosltd.co.uk/...rshire-3764782

It's a bit more expensive than I would like and higher mileage than most. Is that anything to be worried about? To keep price lower it's either lower mileage 70D or higher mile 85D/90D. I have bought plenty of Audis with high mileage and it has never put me off if the price is right but for Tesla it's uncharted territory for me. Does not mention free supercharging but it is general car dealer, not Tesla or EV specialist so maybe does not know or forgot to mention it. Getting it down to £30k is probably unrealistic, maybe £33k.

Have sent message asking for VIN so I can check with Tesla about free supercharging and any warranty work done for drivetrain or MCU or ift it has any extended warranty.

1. Still not convinced of the charging network - we drive across to Estonia every 2-3 years to visit the outlaws, neither the car nor the Tesla website could find us a route, with charging, other than via the 16 hour ferry from Stockholm. No route presented via land, only seemed to get as far as Warsaw, then nothing
It's the limitation of planning aps we use in UK. I tried to plan route to Latvia and they say it's impossible and it does not show any charging stations in Latvia. Last is in Warsaw, you can allegedly get to Kaunas from there if you drive below 70km/h(45mph) and there is Tesla supercharger coming in Kaunas Q3 2021. It does not take in to account any local stations.

For example it does not show any in Latvia but while there are no high power superchargers in Latvia the biggest charging network had 112 50kW stations in November 2020 with 139 planned to be installed in 2021 of which 70 were completed by end of July 2021. And there are hundreds more low power chargers. So yes you can get around without fear of running out of juice it's just chargers are slower so it will take longer recharging, still you can get 50kWh charge in 1 hour good for about 150 miles, you just need to search for charging stations on local apps or on google and pay for charging.

Getting any discount at all in the current climate would be an achievement, a £3k discount is unrealistic to be honest

I know it's hard but you don't ask you don't get. Anyway got VIN from dealer and sent email to Tesla, let's hope they don't come back with some data protection bull**** saying they can't tell me anything. It's Friday so might not get answer till next week anyway.

Firstly - and most importantly - don't be put off by the mileage. A 100k Tesla is equivalent to a 40k ICE competitor in terms of lifecycle, and should be able to easily reach 250k without much trouble, if properly looked after.

This particular example looks very well cared for (I'm envious of the condition of the driver's seat!), looks pretty well build for a Tesla (no obvious panel gaps from the video walk round..), and has an almost identical spec to mine, although it's a FL ("sharknose") rather than PF ("nosecone) one.

If I were looking, then a 90D would probably be my preferred one - better range than a '75D, and almost as much as a 100D, in practical terms, and it's always worth trying to haggle, though I'm not sure you'll get far, given the complete unavailability of new MS cars till next year.

If you want to know any more, then I'd be happy to help - my closing comment (and I know I'm biased... ) is that this is an awful a lot or car for around £35k, particularly when you factor in potentially another 150,000 miles of "free" travel - and that would have cost me the sticker price just in petrol bills in my S8! :D

Tesla can be frustratingly slow at responding on stuff like this - if you find you're getting nowhere then let me know and I can ask in the Manchester store when I'm next in there (probably Monday now...)

Charging networks are much more mature now and, whilst the Tesla network is still streets ahead of the rest, the others are getting much better, so I very doubt you'd be stuck anywhere in Europe that's reasonably developed these days.

I have to disagree, how many of these chargers that have been installed actually work?

There are hundreds of stories of drivers being stranded because the charger they went to was out of order

I didn't say the network was perfect, simply that it's getting much better. The "stories" you refer to are - by definition - historic. The fact is that networks like Ionity and Gridserve are now streets ahead of Ecotricity (which quite rightly got a bad rap....) and it's a similar story for the other networks too.

Unlike refilling a petrol car, EVs also have a range of route planning apps that are pretty good at giving real time outages of any chargers (you only get that for ICE cars on motorway gantry signs if a service station is, for example, out of diesel), so being "stranded" is highly unlikely, if you use the information available properly.

I've never once been stranded - or even been anywhere close to it - in nearly 6 years and 120k miles of travelling in my Tesla.

We'll just have to agree to differ on this, whilst pointing out that I am quite certain that the Tesla experience is far better than any other EV predominately because of the wider available, and reliable, charging network.

We considered electric recently, and probably for 95+% of our journies it'd be fine, as we could have a charger installed at home and most journies would not require dependence on a 3rd party charger.

But that other 5% or so, we did not want that anxiety of not being able to find a reliable charger, at a reasonabel price (they seem to be getting quite expensive), which meant we'd need another car for the longer journies (or to rent one, but have you ever tried renting a car in the UK that you want to take abroad?? :tuttut: )

And the additional cost and inconvenience or running another car outweighed any EV benefits, in my opinion.

I'd still like to make the jump eventually, but not until the infrastructure has been improved many times over.
