Thanks! That set looks like a good shout. In the end, I went to Halfords but couldn't find any reasonably-priced sets with the items I needed so winged it with my existing socket set. Cue a frantic last-minute flurry when I realised there was nothing suitable for the head bolt!
Pegged it up the road to the local tools shop (On bike as A8 somewhat undrivable ;) ) and sorted, T55 bit purchased for about a third of the price at Hellfrauds. It's now in and working, as soon as I find the PC cable for my camera I'll post a picture. I love it! PS. Thanks to whoever answered the 'phone at A8 parts when I was failing to find the second airbag bolt in the steering wheel- It turned out, somewhat bizarrely, to be a 4mm allen bolt rather than the Torx 30 on the other side! Odd. |
Nice work!
Looking forward to the pics +++
No fault codes or warning lights? Oddly, the 2 torx screws on my wheel are T27  |
Nope, no warning lights- Haven't checked for fault codes since I do not possess a Vagcom however I assume that the airbag light would come on if there was anything wrong?
Horn works and wheel hasn't fallen off yet (touch wood) so job's a good'un. I did manage to shear the Torx bit off in the main bolt but it was as tight as I could get it in any case :p Not 100% sure it's centred, although it does vary from side to side so I suspect I'm being paranoid... |
All looks good
Sounds like you've done an excellent job +++
Yes, if the airbag wasn't wired up properly or it was replaced with the battery connected, then you would have the airbag warning light on. and if, like me, the steering angle sensor (G85) wasn't properly lined up, the ABS and ESP lights would be on  |
