Stunning pictures by the way.

Maybe it's a lady thing? I can't see it myself either.

Dean, loving the photos of the pair of red D2's. Congratulations on the purchase. Had the interim owner done much work in the 10months?
|
The interim owner basically took the cars to shows by the looks of things (he is a real car nut).
He had the timing belt changed, had the gearbox oil changed, the wheels refurbished and the callipers painted black. That's about the limit of the extra work to justify the thousands he added to the price he paid. But he did detail it meticulously. It's like new inside.

You have been really lucky to find another red. A very nice upgrade +++
Do the steering wheels have slightly different shapes? In addition to the colours?
|
The steering wheels are the same shape. Apart from the colour, I can't tell the difference between the two wheels. :)

Congratulations Dean. Are you planning on forming your own version of the Red Arrows now you have 'Red Leader' and 'Red 2'? As others have said, keep them both.

Just an OCD comment on the leather colour in case you go to Woolies for their leather renovation kit - if it’s an FE, the leather isn’t platinum, it’s silver grey. Mackies have both on file; platinum from Sergey and Sliver Grey from me. Lovely car BTW :)
|
I'll remember that Jim. I do need something for the leather. It's so clean and new looking but when I sit on it, my backside and the small of my back do not move. They almost stick to the leather. There's no "slide" that I get with the more worn leather in Big Red. No "shinyness", just a lot of friction. It's a weird feeling.

Stunning pictures, and congratulations!
That's a sight you don't see too often and they are a real pair of head turners!
I'd be sooo tempted to keep both too if it was me! :D

Well done Dean.
Great news that you got the S8. Been thinking about it since our chat at Beaulieu. Great photos of the two cars together.
keep Big Red for everyday use and use the S8 for special occasions, thus keeping the mileage down and the value up.
I am sure you will love the S8 performance and presence.
Happy days

I can certainly appreciate the performance David. When jumping back into the 2.8 it feels a bit disappointing.
It is tempting to keep them both but I think someone else wants Big Red more than I do. I don't have the space to keep two cars at the moment so paying to put one in storage at another location doesn't really appeal.

Looking good! how much did you pay in the end if you don't mind me asking?
At beaulieu i thought your current A8 was already an S8!
Lovely example very immaculate! +++

Yes, not much difference between the looks with Big Red having the FE 20" wheels. Just a couple of badges and some chrome mirrors to tell the difference.
How much did I pay? Money and fair words! :D (aka not much less than the asking price)
