Mackies are supposed to be 'THE' experts when it comes to Auto boxes and at £155 it sounds a no brainer to me.
Cant see them doing a 3 for 2 deal but no harm asking |
£155 is a very good price, a 'no brainer' definitely
|
Seems a fair price given the cost of oil and filter will be most
of that From memory the filter is about 30 quid and fluid isn't cheap - about a tenner a litre if memory serves Box needs to be at a fairly low temp for correct level setting on refil but filling with fresh cold fluid will take a lot of heat out of the box |
I guess if its 2 hrs labour (@ £35hr min?) = £70
+ 8 ltrs @ £10ltr = £80 + filter @£30 = £180 Total So £155 is good. Do we get a fleet discount if we include Richard's 8 and Volvo?? |
Pretty sure Brian must have a voucher :)

for my tuppeny ha'penny's worth I would go with the squirty, pumpy, sucky, filly machine thingummabobber anyday, especially at that price. As Richard says it will always do a fuller flush and its been designed specifically to do the job as thoroughly as possible. :D

I have booked my gearbox oil change in with Unit 20. I was going to get Chester Auto Transmissions to do it with the machine but want the sump off and all the metal flecs off the sump magnets cleaned and the filters changed too. I don't think they do that with the machine do they? Might get Chester to do it a few thousand miles after.

I'd want confirmation they're changing the filter as well if they're using the machine to get the last of the fluid out - not much point in changing the fluid unless the filter gets done too
