Another meet report from your romping reporter!! +++
As per CtL's agenda - PART 1 Fri 1 Jun Friday arrivees arrive as per own passage orders. 1900 hrs - CTL, DJ90, Am80 will imbide gently in the bar at the Brackenrigg - all welcome After a smooth but erratic Bank Holiday Friday cruise up the M5 and M6 (I mean, really, what a cheek all those other people wanting to get away for the Bank Hols at the same time as me! ) I arrived at Charnock Richard Services on the M6 at about 3pm and met up with Mike. We cruised on to Kendal services and met up with Guy and Kelly, who joined us for the final drive across to the Brackenrigg Inn at Watermillock. We arrived at about 5.30pm and found a large amount of the Scottish contingent had arrived and were already testing the alcohol on the pub's verandah  Mike insisted on cleaning his car prior to cleaning his throat with alcohol so I broke out the portable battery jetwash super gadget from my bat utility belt and we proceeded to fettle with cars before joining the patio party! http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895727 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338895806 As you can see the Brackenrigg Inn has a great car park for everyone to meet up, it also has a good sized separate function room off the restaurant which was loaned to us to use for the group for meals and our Saturday night event. We all met for an evening meal. . . http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338897034 And while Connor was distracted with his laptop. . . . http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338897034 another opportunity for Mike to steal a child's food again. . . http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338897034 The girlies were getting on well. . . http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338897034 Mike tried the same but it didn't have the same effect. . . . http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338897034 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338897034 Tune in for the next exciting Instalment . . . . . . . MEET REPORT - PART 2
Sat 2 Jun 08:00 to 09:30 - Breakfast and hangover removal 10:00 - Muster in Carpark at Brakenrigg with 8s. Drool over W12s, S8s. Point and laugh at soot chuckers! 11:00 - Commence Cruise with Vuuze and Cluuze???????????? 12:30 to - 13:30 - Lunch 13:45 - Continue Cruise with Vuuze and Cluuze???????????? 15:30 - Cruise with Vuuze and Cluuze ends at Brackenrigg 18:30 - Dinner 20:00 - Evening event which is secret, very secret, Muhahahaha. Well that was the plan . . . . as everyone knows who attended it didn't quite follow these timings! Breakfast and hangover removal was as per schedule. . . as was the muster in the car park. We decided that as Reffro and IT had turned up in soot-chuckers they would be used as Camera & Follow up vehicles for our Cruise with Vuuze and Cluuze event! IT's Q7 was ideal as a camera car as it had air suspension, and all good F1 and touring car races all use a Merc Estate to follow up behind as a medical / mop up car so Reffro's would fit the bill fine! +++ http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338901249 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338900905 Viktor, Vitali, Scotty and Flo (A8 Freunde from Germany) turned up in a (very) lowered D2 and a D3 to meet everyone for breakfast - thanks for coming to visit our meeting guys! (They actually drove from Germany to Dover then Ferry then Dover to the Lake District in the space of 2 days!). As it was the Jubilee weekend I took the opportunity to "decorate" their cars with some genuine Jubilee memorabilia (ahem :D ) to enable them to get into the spirit of the "holiday weekend experience". This took the form of some wing mirror gloves and a union jack scarf banner. The roads in Germany are for the most part incredibly smooth so I don't think that they were overly impressed with the state of UK roads lol but worse was to come for them as we were to bomb around the back lanes of the lake district on some pretty rough surfaces. . . it was bad enough in my car with 25 profile tyres on the back but Scotty's D2 was lowered to the point where the suspension had NO travel (ouch!) http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338901249 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338901249 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338901249 We mustered in the car park and after some detailed car-looking we assembled the cars for a group picture at the front of the car park with the lake and hills behind to complete the picture. . . we just about squeezed all the cars along the front! We then briefed the drivers before setting off for our cruise with vuuze and cluuze. . . http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338901656 Tune in for the next exciting instalment! . . . |

MEET REPORT - PART 3
THE CRUISE - WITH VUUZE AND CLUUZE. . . . Well those of you who didnt come missed out on a GREAT day! :tuttut: We departed the Brackenrigg after a briefing with Darren, myself and Mike at the front, Middle and Back of the line respectively with walkie-talkie contact to try and keep things as together as possible. Everyone was advised to note as many things as possible visually on the cruise as we would be asking questions at the evening event and points would be making prizes! http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1338907088 We went for a picturesque Cruise through the Lake District on the route shown above which started alongside Ullswater, went up through the Kirkstone pass stopping at the Kirkstone Inn at the top for a break. We then dropped down to Ambleside and through to Hawkshead where we had a lunch break. We then looped around the bottom of Lake Windemere where we found a slight diversion was necessary due to closed roads. This provided additional unexpected fun travelling down the narrowest of lanes of the day in a convoy of 16 cars which was stopping for no-one! :D A slight problem with the closed road/diversion was that we needed to get back onto route as soon as possible to make sure that we didn't lose too many cluuze! We followed Windemere back to the Kirkstone pass and back alongside Ullswater to the Brackenrigg for about 5.30pm!
