Royal mail gets expensive very quickly on larger items and over 2 kg for international parcels. They do Parcelforce in post office that should be more cost effective. Also you might want to check parcel2go.com You can usualluy get better price on Parcelforce then in post office.

parcel2go or parcelmonkey ... I had a quote that was half of the parcelforce website price, but it still went with them :)

The Post Office wants around £46 to post to Norway, so I suppose that's a non-starter. Even shopping around, it's going to be upwards of £25 I expect.
