Looks fairly straight forward I think I want to give it a go.
I quite like the idea of keeping the rest of the cluster on km/German, makes it kind of quirky and as the car is made in Germany I think its appropriate. Reminds me of Americans having to learn what all the buttons mean on the Russian space station :)

Just one thing: When you remove the cluster put towel/blanket on top of steering column. This will guarantee you will never scratch top of steering column as plastic there is vulnerable and edges of cluster are sharp.

Cluster is removed by undoing two screws under plastic covers on the front and then by carefully disconnecting 3 electrical connection from behind. You will have to do it blindly, with your hand behind cluster, but it will work. You may need to cut a couple of cable tires if you do it for the first time.

When cluster is on the bench/table you know what to do :)

Your headlights pictured in your other thread look like bi-xenons to me, rather than standard xenons. I would expect any adjustment Audi end up making will be manually lowering the beam setting to make it sit within an MOT testing field, but may end up positioning the beam too low for day to day driving.

I suspect when Audi say there is no adjustment required, it's because the lights won't necessarily dazzle oncoming traffic on holiday but wouldn't actually pass a roadworthiness test for the 'wrong' side of the road. Any difference will most likely be internal to the reflector for LHD/RHD.

I would interogate them before parting with your money to make sure they know what they are doing!

In terms of LHD bi-xenon headlights there is no 'official' way to convert them to RHD.

The same logic applies to RHD bi-xenon headlights -- all we can do is to purchase masking foil (part number exist in ETKA) as temporary solution to go overseas. Now if we look at ETKA for other type of headlights (ordinary xenon, etc.) we will not find masking foil part for them. That's because they have adjustment levers, etc. for conversion.

My suggestion will be to purchase RHD bi-xenons in good used condition and install them instead of your LHD bi-xenons headlights. At the same time you can renew just the front lenses elements, which can be purchased separately for our cars and they are still available from Audi. This will completely renew headlight and make it look as new -- this is what I did recently. Swapping headlights and front lenses is VERY easy DIY job.

If you pay for labour to readjust LHD to RHD I'm not sure about result and costs will be comparable to purchasing true RHD headlights and swapping yourself.

Can you remove the front lenses with the units still on the car?
I ask because I have some odd marks (condensation or water ingress maybe) on the "chrome" parts inside one that are annoyingly visible and just need a wipe over.

Thanks Adrian and Sergei, I didnt realise these are bi-xenons.
I think as a temporary measure I will pay Audi £39 to adjust them so I can pass the MOT, then later I may have to invest in some proper RHD headlights.
The main consideration at the moment is to get the car registered on a UK plate asap, so it can be legally driven and because the insurance has only given me 30 days to provide a UK licence plate or they will cancel the policy.

At least if it still fails mot you can get a refund from Audi for failed headlight adjustment! Would've thought bi-xenon headlights for rhd wouldn't be too horrific second hand?

Yes, I did that. You can change front lenses without removing headlights. I'd suggest to purchase new set of clamps and two 'neoprene' gaskets too. Easy work.

passed MOT, whew!
Now to see the DVLA people on Monday, lets see if I can get through without changing the speedo.
