Oh dear, will there be drinking at this event? I didn't realise it was that sort of a meeting. :tuttut:

Only kidding folks! +++

briang9 25th April 2012 08:48 PM

Dont worry Jim the speed limiters can multi task from my experience, pretty good at fluid intake monitoring and prevention too IIRC:)

The_Laird 25th April 2012 08:52 PM

Hmmm, no speeding, no drinking......tell me again why we're going?

briang9 25th April 2012 08:55 PM

They tell me the scenery is nice round there and the Sunday Morning service in the local church is meant to be legendary:p

We have 4 guys from Germany joining us: Viktor, Vitali, Scotty and Flo.

They will stay in http://www.knottsmill.com hotel, arriving on Saturday and checking out on Monday.

They can order you the "A8 Freunde" t-shirt (can be black or white), which costs 20 euro, and bring it with them. If anyone is interested please post here.

Just so I am not accused of Basil Fawlty-like " dont mention the war-ism", i thought I had better point out that the T-shirts features Edersee which was one of the lakes/dams attacked in that raid. Purely historical point.:o

Thats 'cos there aren't any nearby Guy - the nearest are at Carlisle where there are 4 different ones. The one at J42 of the M6 is probably the nearest one (the meet is at Watermillock which is off of J40). There is a Travelodge nearer if those are ok for you -

Travelodge Hotel - Penrith
A66 Redhills, Penrith, Cumbria CA11 0DT
0871 984 6168   01768 868425 (Fax) ‎
travelodge.co.uk

Have you tried booking any of the hotels that others are already staying at?
They are -
The Brackenrigg Inn
The Knotts Mill Country Lodge
The Pooley Bridge Inn

daviesbike 29th April 2012 10:31 AM

I will check them out then thanks Neil, i just would like to be able to have a drink and not worry about where we are going to stay, and would not like to walk very far because im Lazy haha

If the Knotts Mill B&B has room then the German guys will be based there but the B&B owner will run the group of you up to the Brackenrigg and collect you so that you can join in with the main group +++ He looks like David Dickinson but its really not him, honest! (not nearly orange enough!)

daviesbike 4th May 2012 03:12 PM

is any one with a D3 S8 coming ? and would they be willing to let me take it for a spin I would like to compare it to the W12, your more than welcome to take the W12 for a spin in return +++

I will not be able to make it. Driving wife to airport on the evening of 2nd and have to go to work on the evening of 3rd. So not really prepared to drive 250 miles each way to the meet just for a couple of hours catch-up besides have not managed to get car in for MOT yet (ends 27/05/2012) and not sure if will before meet.

Have fun and see you at the Audis In The Park in August.

notorious 25th May 2012 08:44 AM

Guys, due to urgent change in circumstances I had to cancel my trip, which is a pity.

I have just cancelled family room in The Pooley Bridge Inn (CA10 2NN, tel 017684 86215), so someone who needs a family room can grab it.

I hope I will see you next time.

tintin 25th May 2012 11:12 AM

I'm bailing too - will be out of the country now at this time. Drat and double drat...:(

daviesbike 28th May 2012 08:19 AM

Right i will now be coming for the whole weekend as i had some one cancel for a wedding booking, but the problem is that everywhere is full, i may be able to book some where called old water view but what the transport like ? i mean i can drive of course but cant have a drink then so what is every one else doing ? where are we all meeting ?

Everywhere is fully booked !!!! i have tryed every where and i mean everywhere with in a radius of about 15 miles !

only room i could bet was at old water view and thats nearly 200 quid as its a suite and thats all they have just for the friday and then they are full also

any one know of any where else ?

Is any one camping because at this rate its looking like i will have to bring a tent !!

Dezzy 28th May 2012 08:28 AM

Take a tent Guy

daviesbike 28th May 2012 08:30 AM

Yea but where the hell to i pitch it is the Question Lol looked on the google maps and i can only find one listed camp sight and its the other side of the lake to every one

briang9 28th May 2012 08:35 AM

Guy, there is a link to a camp site in the very first post in this thread

cheers

Dave@A8parts 28th May 2012 08:42 AM

Does anyone need any parts bringing up to the meet?

We have a couple of 8s coming along with some boot space spare.

Please call us on 01642 783537.

daviesbike 28th May 2012 08:57 AM

sorry my fault i thought the link was duff, i tryed the first one and it was a google map so i left it, did not see the second link, might camp or rent a static van not sure yet, if the weather is nice i dont mind camping but the misses will haha

daviesbike 28th May 2012 09:07 AM

Dose any one want to share a static van or a holiday cottage with me and the misses ?
its £280 from friday to monday its ether a 6 berth caravan 2012 model brand new or a holiday cottage, the local B&B are £40 each per night per person so thats £240 any way and there is no limit with the static van the price is fixed, and there is a bar on sight and shop ect and half that if some one shares its only £140 for the whole weekend

any one interested ?

Dezzy 28th May 2012 09:25 AM

I'll give you 40 quid for 10 mins, not all that keen on sharing so if you could wait in the car or something.....

The_Laird 28th May 2012 09:44 AM

Guy

What about the cancellations? Have their rooms gone already?

Public transport is a non-starter, so you'll really need to stay close

Goran 28th May 2012 09:44 AM

what time is everyone setting off from Brackenrigg Inn on Saturday morning?
Is the meeting point at Watermill lock?

daviesbike 28th May 2012 03:21 PM

Everywhere is full i have asked if there is any cancellations to let me know but they said that its unlikely now this close to the time
