He should be calling in here tomorrow when I can at least run a full VCDS scan and see what's showing.
Any particular measuring blocks to look at as well?

So Richard has been and gone. Scanned car, cleared lots of (largely historical) codes, short drive, scanned again.
Nothing exciting, usual intermittent 01119 Gear Recognition Signal (F125 failing maybe?) and a few expected errors from known faults.

Put a multimeter on the lead to his coolant header tank and it showed about 10V across the pins. Not sure what that proves.... :Confused:

Next step if it were in the workshop would be to pull the cluster and locate T32b/18 and ground it right at the cluster. Dismantle the connector & find a spare pin and a bit of thin wire and just remove pin 18 and replace it with the spare. Ground the bit of wire and see what it does.

.

This is GREAT advice - thank you. Unfortunately I absolutely don't have the skills to do this myself :( so will need to get an auto electrician involved :mad:

Thank you MJ +++

HUGE thanks to HP for the lend of the VCDS and the guidance, and the offer of a cuppa. #gent+++
