really, it happens on yours as well? its damn annoying, im tempted to get another ecu , but wanted to check if it could be anything else. the fact that it seems to last a few days if i change the battery serial number with vagcom seems to indicate an ecu problem to me.

I found a couple of things last night

1. many references to current drain caused from the phone module

2. and a TSB which seems to point to a current drain from the Radio which doesnt get switched of when it should. resolution is to update to 5570

my car was updated to the latest some time ago when i had the bluetooth fitted, but i think not all the updates were done, only enough to do the phone so this could fit.

I havent got a cd player in the car so will have to remove the ami and replac the cd before i try to update so last night went out ran the car and turned the MMi of to see if it makes a difference

Psyche - is your car defo fully updated ?

My PF D3 wasn't updated to 5570 until not long before I sold it, and I've never left the radio on in my new one, but that has 5570.. will check at some point soon.

mine shows 5570, but that only means the MMi has 5570, it doesnt mean all the components were updated, im pretty sure thinking about it that the amount of time taken during the update wasnt enough to do a full update.

i didnt see a way of turnng the radio off, just shut down the MMi and hoped that would do it , this morning ive given it a run and now switched of the phone and the MMi, i also unticked the "delay" button in the phone settings which keeps the phone on after the mmi has closed.

will see later if its made any difference

I think there was also a service campaign for the battery ECU, mine had it done early in its life. If you look in the back of your service book, it should be recorded there. Ill double check mine tomorrow to see what the code was.

In my service record, it is recorded as 27C1 and done in 2004 along with 19E4 which is something to do with the cooling system scaling up, 46E6 which is a clutch torque adjustment and 69B2 which appears to be airbag related

i have the last 2 but not the first, what is the wording of 27C1 ?

limoncello 26th September 2012 10:10 AM

just called audi, i have no outstanding recalls on my car. so i probably dont need that one.

i have ordered the update cds so will try that, and have booked the car in to Audi next friday in case it doesnt work.

so for the last week ive tried an experiment to test whether its likely to be the battery drain problems described in the TSB

Every time I stop the car i turn of the telephone via the MMi, close down the MMi and for good measure switch of the climate control.

had no problems at all this week. as my friday appointment with audi is looming tomorrow i will try it minus the mmi close down and see what happens, try to narrow it down a bit

Psyche if your always having the same issue give it a try and see what happens
