You boys looked like you all had a great time :) am jealous! |
A great evening, and fun, if somewhat chilly boat trip the next day. Well worth the trip, and seeing as I drive a sootchucker, the brown envelope of joy paid for all my fuel expenses (honest!).
A massive, special thanks to Mike & Reffro for helping with all the room shenanigans, really appreciated guys. |
superb reports and pics so far, heres a link to ours, some you may have seen in the report

Sunday 3 Jun
08:00 to 09:00 - Breakfast and Hangover removal. 10:00 - Photo Shoot 11:30 - Potential Ferry Cruise of Ullswater 1430 approx - End of event. Well Sunday was a late start for most of us due to the aforementioned hangover removal - I'm not sure that Gninnam was even up and out of bed by the time Mike and myself left after lunch! (thats doing it in style Andy :p) The photo shoot mentioned above was deemed un-necessary really as we had taken some good group shots on the day before. We had planned to use a nearby stately home for the setting for this and had offered to try and get the shots into Audi Driver magazine to give them some publicity but they wanted £150 for us to use the venue to take the picture which we felt was a tad extortionate! So most were up and about by about 10am and quite a few decided to take up the option of another cruise - but on water this time - and were duly dropped off at Pooley Bridge by a few of the others to pick up the Ullswater Steamer for a 65 minute trip to Glenridding. We then drove down to Glenridding and picked everyone up and ferried them back to the Brackenrigg Inn for a warming coffee (most looked frozen to death!). The meeting then dispersed to enable those with longer journies to head back home and those that were staying for the remainder of the Jubilee weekend to enjoy a "proper holiday" :p My thanks again to ALL of those who took the time to attend, to the Brackenrigg Inn and the Knotts Mill Country Lodge for putting up with us all, and special thanks to those who came the furthest like our German A8 Freunde guys and Goran who drove up just for the Saturday even though he came up from Kent. It was good to see so many new faces and old friends. Finally a big thanks to A8 parts for the many prizes they donated plus bringing 2 car loads of people, and to all those who donated time, prizes or both to make the weekend a success! We are proposing next years meet to be in South Wales / Forest of Dean Area with possibly the following year in Scotland and the year after that in the SE area. It would also be good to get ideas for events and things to do in those areas although we also have a few of our own. we will start a separate thread for this for discussion purposes. It would also be great to get a few more cars over to the A8 Freunde meeting in Germany in a few months time if anyone would like to come along. Some final pictures from the Sunday from me are attached . . . |
It WAS perishingly cold on the (diesel powered) steamer which also suffered mechanical problems which required in a lot of scurrying around by the crew onboard investigating the hull below the passenger deck and messing about with the steering gear. Was it linked with the loud scrunching noise we all heard and felt as we rounded the buoy on the far side of the Lake? A sort of "running aground" noise!! Anyway, the steamer was taken out of service on our arrival at Glenridding due to "mechanical issues". :(
