This is the audi I bought, almost a shame to tear it apart

He does not want gearbox facing to the front. He wants gearbox to be behind engine ant to use front wheel output to drive rear wheels just like you. He just want to modify existing gearbox instead of buying another one. And 5HP19 is meant for lower torque then 5HP24, well his is probably 4HP24 being car from 1995.

i want to use my quattro automatic transmission but i must use only the front output.the output i must take off and close the end of gearbox.

i am using my trans in my v8 engine .the engine will be in the middle of the car and the front output of gear box will drive the rear weels of the car.the rear output wwill be token away.
is this wht are u doing?
if this is the same tell me how u did this

up is mycar audi a8 v8 4,2 quattro and down is wwht im going to do using the same engione and automatic transmission but modifying from quattro to front output from rear weels,

Doesn't matter, using the 5hp24 in this way will make it probably weaker than the 19. Welding the diff on any AWD normally damages it because the torque only driving the front of the trans. Not made for that.
I have a 24 too but not gonna attempt to use it.

Just went on ebay and spent the extra couple hundred for the 2.8 FWD so I wouldn't have to modify anything but yeah basically same thing, elvis. I also saw someone do this on a porsche boxter on different forum, same setup. He already had a 5hp19.

But you will also need matching TCU and change coding for 4 wheel drive so that engine, gearbox and ABS are all coded for 4WD otherwise they will complain about incorrect coding.
