Not only that, but VH-OEJ carried the old kangaroo logo and formed the correct logo on its flight path for its tail marking (with front paws - new logo is aputated).

For aviation buffs, OEJ used to have a unique paint scheme called Wunula Dreaming - majority red coloured aboriginal art, you might have seen it.

Interesting Flight Number too!

A very fitting farewell and thoroughly well executed by Qantas both in terms of flight path and flight number.

Spotted an A380 arriving at Heathrow yesterday from Dubai, an Emirates one. Wonder if they're slowly bringing them back or just keeping a token one flying?

Nearly half (~45%) of their fleet is A380's, and they use(d) them for most of their long haul flights.
The remainder are B777's all of the ER variety, they should have the necessary range, so only they could tell you why they're flying one...

I wonder if it has anything to do with the crew maintaining their flight status. Had a quick look on YouTube and there's a video of one arriving at Heathrow last Saturday (25th), and another video of one arriving at Gatwick today (video uploaded less than half a hour ago).

Yup, found this, first return of Emirates A380 to Heathrow, July 15th 2020: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JaxO5XoyUQ
