agreed!
in all honesty, i dont want the 8 back now. ive moved on and am ready for something different. I think the RS2 is exactly what im looking for and the perfect motor for the situation im now in (getting such crazy car is pretty much a f u to the misses. I said I would get a more sensible car hen we got married, were not getting married so then im gonna go the other way!)

Nick Johnson is well regarded in most Audi circles - if it's been maintained by mrc then Doug should be able too advise on how good an example it is

A lot of people selling cars don't want the hassle of dealing privately, especially if their old car value is way below what they're paying out for

RS2 is nice.. or look at something like an Octavia vRS (or one of the Audi 1.8T variants), they can be tuned up to stupid levels of power :)

i was just showing that thread and car as an example of the sort of car I would be after if I do go ahead and buy one.

Not really looking for suggestions, was pretty much just saying that I think I am going down the RS2 route! The Octavia VRS and Turbo'ed Audis are nice, but a car has to call out to me, and the RS2 has. Its not just about the stupid atats this car puts out (4.8 second 0-60 and restricted 163mph top speed) but the lines of the RS2 Avant and the interior space just make me want it.

I was meerly anouncing my intentions to start seriously concidering going about getting my hands on one, and asking what people here thought about them :)

Singh 23rd February 2012 02:03 PM

Octavia VRS isn't mad, in fact. It's sensible, I'm sure they are front wheel drive four pots...?

Get an RS2, the last Audi event I went to, they had brand new S5s/S4s and all sorts there, I couldn't care less about them, I spent 15 mins looking over the RS2, I too want an RS2, badly. It is one of my dream cars, and I will own an RS2 one day.

Singh 23rd February 2012 02:12 PM

Here are some photos I took of the above mentioned car +++

Stats are quite impressive on the RS2 anyway, off the top of my head 315 BHP, 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. Have a read of this article that Pistonheads done on the RS2 recently. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/de...?storyId=18810

Found it funny that when the RS 2 came out, Audi out out an advert with a bloke getting out of one and the caption 'my other cars a Porsche, but today I was in a hurry'.

Stunning pictures Amar! And if you want one.... then It actually pretty much makes my mind up that it is the car I should get!

Yup those stats are right, and with a restricted 163mph top speed. (Wonder what it would do without the restricter)

If I do get one, id concider having it as an investment (like the pick up) everything I did to it would be easily reverseble. Id remodel the dash for example, but would have a spare to use if it want to go back to standard, id like a larger front bumper, again keeping the original. Id also go for a viyal wrap (and once again, so the wrap could come off and go back to the orignal undamaged paint)

So, thoughts of an RS2 lowered and on D3 20" Final Edition alloys?

Didn't mean to sound like I was putting you off the RS2.. They're awesome, and can be tuned to sillyness :)

It's a heart purchase as much as a head purchase, so go for it!

Singh 23rd February 2012 03:23 PM

I was hoping you meant RS2, but was worried it was a typo for 4 or 6. Glad you meant the proper one though. +++

I think they look aggressive looking as they are, if you want it de limited/remapped/tuned. Get MRC Tuning to do it. Also, have a read through this RS2 build thread. http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26534

You've got to admire the American car culture.

its ok mate, sorry i didnt read though my post before i replied, i didnt mean it to sound as abrupt as it did! (typed it fast and went back to my work emails) But, i have noticed that everytime I tell someone that i am after an RS2, before telling me what an amazing car the RS2 is and that I should get one, they tell me about other cars I should get instead! The RS2 is an emotinal response to the broken engagment, and you hit the nail on the head, its a buy made with the heart and love for the car in every shape and form!

Id want to keep you lot onside though this as Id love to come to you lot for advice on what I should do with the RS2
(like I said Id like the option to get it back to standard if and when I want to)
Id also like to tap into your recommendations on garages for servicing and upgrades. I neglected the 8 hugely (im still amazed anyone wanted it enough to steal it concidering the state id let it get in) and there is no way id do the same to the RS2

but mods at the top of my mind are:
-Final edition 20" D3 wheels (always meant to get these on the 8) I think they would look awesome on the RS2 provinding I can get the ride height low enough?
-uprated stereo with 7" (touchscreen?) by removing the air vents and moving the headlight etc buttons down into the old radio slot
-Or, a RNS-E unit with a steering wheel with audio controls on?
-Black Alcantara Headlining (id get the same guy whos doing the same headlining in my mini, so do the RS2 as well and a few matching touches around the car)
-Heated electric seats
- Air con (I think they use Audi 90 units)
-A vinyl wrap and custom colour (I know im going to get shot for saying it let alone doing it but at least with a wrap it actually protects the original paint and can be pulled of and put back to standard within a few hours) I think I might still be in shock from the broken engagement but at the moment I am leaning towards a Matt GREY wrap! Am I mad??? It would certainly be different....... lol.
- it would have to have the rear window spolier with 3rd break light
-xeron headlights
- de badged
-Miltek exaust?

ohh yes, very much meant the RS2!
Hense why I mentioned the future investment potential. I like to think this is going to be a sort after classic in 10years! its already being classed as a retro in some circles.

ive heard good things from MRC Tuning (mostly from you lot) and I think its the sort of care and attention to detail id be looking for from a specialist. Id even be happy to travel the distance from London for the right quality of service.

Lovely pictures again, keep em coming! the more you post the more I want it! I cant believe the stats of this motor, and for under £10k is an amazing steal!

I think this motor would have to be locked away round the back hidden in my garage with the minis though! No way id leave this on the drive! Id also invest in as many security mods as I could possibly think of.
