Is it true that Lemforder arms are the actual original Audi OEM if the numbers are grinded off like on the second picture???

Lemforder does make some suspension components for various models as does Febi, TRW and others. It does not however mean that parts bought aftermarket will be as good as the ones bought from dealer.

When they make parts for Audi they need to meet or exceed certain agreed specifications. When they make parts for aftermarket they can do whatever they want and mostly due to cost savings it means lesser parts.

Thats what I heard as well.
For example they may come from the same line and be manufactured same as the OEM ones which Audi sells, but during the final quality inspection Audi may have standards such as only up to micro cracks (inside the aluminium structure) are allowed during xray control or something like that, and anything with more than 2 micro cracks but less than 5 lets say Lemforder will sell under their own name
