12 weeks, that's bonkers.....

And this assuming your 'new' car is actually up to spec at the end of all this.

12 wks. Have they taken your car to pieces, shipped it to Germany, rebuilt it and sent it back?

Its really quite nuts that this is still going on..... Your saving grace is the ridiculous mileage you're stacking on their loaner whilst they mess around with 'yours'

Do let us know how you got on.....

Four months and five days later I got my car back, it is almost perfect - by that I mean as it should have been when I bought it! At a guess I put about 7-8k miles on their cars

Minor niggle with the phone which will only connect at 2G, they have referred this to the factory for support which may take a while. They are going to extend the warranty to cover the time they had the car also.

It maybe a few years older than the 15 plate loan cars I have had, but it felt good getting back into my own car with all the options I wanted, and the V8 is so much better than the V6 TDI +++

At least you got another '8.. Looks like I'm with an A5 for a while as the A7 has had a couple of niggles with the Stop Start system which resulted in it refusing to start a couple of weeks ago. After some fiddling around with a new starter motor, they've decided that the engine is toast and are just waiting on the go-ahead from the warranty folks.

Not sure exactly what's died in the engine, but apparently it now makes a scary noise on the driver's side bank and there's bits of metal in the sump.

For those of you that are interested in such things, they reckon about 10k including labour to do the engine swap (3.0TFSI). So I decided to continue the warranty for another year :)

My word. You do hear quite a few worrying things about the FSI units. I remember on the A2s the FSIs of about 15 years ago seemed to be plagued. What a shame. Must be so frustrating.
